Golf Life Ladies donate $30,000 to CCF’s Tornado Relief, Recovery Fund

The Coweta Community Foundation says it is grateful for all the donations that have been given to its Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund since the March 26 tornado, and they were recently honored to receive a donation of $30,350 from the Golf Life Ladies.
A new type of ladies’ golf league, this group enjoys the fun of making new friends while allowing those who aren’t familiar with golfing to become comfortable on the golf course. The group encourages new golfers and offers PGA professional clinics on play days. While the group meets for only about six months out of the year, they have managed to raise $130,000 for local nonprofits in their first eight years. Fundraisers this year included a Tournament O’ Fun on September 24 at White Oak Golf Club, with Mike Patton Automotive as Presenting Sponsor. Other large sponsors included Senoia UPS Store, Edmunds, Team Velocity, Delta TechOps, Ally Financial, American Financial & Automotive Services, and Progressive Heating, Air and Plumbing.
“We are thrilled to announce that this year’s donation is $30,350,” said Samantha Brazie of Golf Life Ladies, “and we’re so pleased that our efforts this year will benefit tornado relief.”
Cynthia Bennett, CCF vice chair, noted that the group’s generous donation is comparable to the Foundation’s entire grants cycle distribution in some years.
“The Golf Life Ladies golf league is such a tremendous group!” said CCF Long-Term Recovery Director Rich DeWees. “These ladies have found a way to stay active and have fun while creating actual impact in this community. I’m incredibly moved that they were able to give this tremendous amount to the Coweta Community Foundation for the long-term tornado recovery effort.”
DeWees said that while he was amazed at the final check amount, he shouldn’t have been surprised. “They have great leadership and enthusiastic, contagious spirit,” he said. “The teamwork and cooperation it took to pull this off was evident to me at their annual golf tournament. The impact of their efforts and generosity will show up in the Foundation’s ability to help more families receive assistance in their recovery process. This money will result in tangible actions like tarps disappearing because damaged roofs have been replaced or repaired. Many families will receive assistance because of this selfless gift from a group of ladies who know how to get things done. My hat goes off to them, and words are inadequate to express the gratitude I feel to receive this donation for the recovery effort.”
