Below are some weather updates from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Hurricane Helene, which reached Category 4 status before coming ashore with 140 mph winds in Florida, is now a Tropical Storm with maximum winds at 45 mph. Its center is 30 miles southwest of Bryson, N.C.

This afternoon’s forecast in Coweta County calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 74 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 20 mph, gusting to 30.

Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 61. South wind will be near 10 mph, gusting to 20.

Saturday’s high near 78 and Sunday near 80.

WARNINGS ISSUED

• The Tropical Storm Warning issued yesterday remains in effect as of 7:30 a.m. today (Friday). NWS estimates winds will be 15-25 mph with gusts to 45. It will remain in effect until 1:30 p.m. today. – EXPIRED

• Flood Watch is in effect with an additional one inch of rain possible this morning. The Flood Watch will be in effect until 2 p.m. today.

• A Wind Advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. this evening (Friday). Expect southwest winds 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and additional power outages may result.
