Some 31 years ago, The Coweta County Shopper was born when it went rolled off the presses in 1989. The Newnan, Georgia-based weekly publication quickly became a leading advertising medium in the community.

In 2010, the company was purchased by local businessman Joe Williams and he promptly renamed the publication “The Coweta Shopper”. Williams restructured the direct-mail circulation plan to include mailing to every business and residential address in Coweta County, excluding Post Office boxes. The new circulation plan gave The Coweta Shopper a nearly 98 percent saturation rate of the entire county and is target-marketing to specific parts of the county each week via zones.

The Coweta Shopper is not your usual “Shopper” publication. Instead of wall-to-wall advertising, The Coweta Shopper provides weekly columns on various subject matters, from gardening to home-staging to car repairs to sports. And the weekly publisher’s page has become a favorite of our readers. And yes, you can still depend on The Coweta Shopper to deliver timely merchant advertising and weekly classifieds.

In 2014, The Coweta Shopper began creating additional editorial features to both its print edition and redesigned website.

And in December 2016, newspaper veteran John A. Winters and Winters Media & Publishing, Inc., purchased The Coweta Shopper. Winters has over 30 years experience in newspaper publishing and – along with his wife, Corby Carlin Winters – is providing a new look and format for what is now simply called “The Shopper.” The Shopper has more entertainment news, events, features, trends and advertising specials than ever before plus utilizes social media to help disseminate advertiser’s marketing messages.

In May 2017, Winters Media & Publishing, Inc., launched a sister publication – The Paper. This publication is distributed to high-traffic areas (restaurants, banks, shops, salons, visitors centers, libraries, etc…) in and around Coweta County. It  focuses on feature stories, Q&As, entertainment, restaurants, things to do and with an expanded calendar of events.

In November 2017, Winters Media & Publishing, Inc., moved its offices of The Shopper and The Paper from off Pine Road to Downtown Newnan at 15 Perry Street. And in January 2020, Winters Media & Publishing, Inc., moved to it’s current location – 18 Jackson Street, Newnan, just one block off the Square.

And in January 2022, Winters Media & Publishing, Inc., rebranded The Shopper thus changing its name to The Weekly.

The purpose of The Weekly (and formerly The Shopper) is to connect the people of Coweta County with the products and services available here in the community.  Advertisers find our weekly publication affordable and effective, and use it to better serve you.  Please tell them “You saw it in The Paper and The Shopper.”
