Update: Coweta-Fayette EMC reports all outages have been restored

UPDATED: 10 PM MONDAY … Coweta-Fayette EMC is reporting all outages have been restored.

After powerful storms and straight-line winds swept through our system early Sunday morning, over 17,000 accounts were without power. The Coweta-Fayette EMC crews, along with the incredible support from Pike, Canoochee EMC, Middle Georgia EMC, and Habersham EMC, worked tirelessly to restore service—replacing over 30 broken poles along the way.

UPDATED: 3:30 PM MONDAY … Coweta-Fayette EMC is reporting they are down to 270 members without power.

The Coweta-Fayette EMC crews have been working hard since 4 a.m. Sunday to restore power, but want to make sure no one has been missed. If your power is still out, please give them a call to report it—even if you think they already know.

UPDATED: NOON MONDAY … Coweta-Fayette EMC is reporting they are down to 407 outages currently, from a high of 17,000. Crews will continue working until everyone has power restored.

More broken poles have been found as crews continue to work their way around the area. More crews are arriving now from Canoochee EMC, Middle Georgia EMC, and Habersham EMC to help with the restoration process.

If you have lines down in your yard or across the driveway, continue to treat those as live wires and stay far away. You can call 770-502-0226 and member service representatives will get the needed information from you so that it can be removed safely by the EMC trained crews.

UPDATED: 7 AM MONDAY … Coweta-Fayette EMC is reporting they still have 675 members without power even though crews worked through the night. The remaining outages are isolated around the system.

All poles, except one, has been replaced. It’s located in a very swampy area and a special piece of equipment is arriving this morning to help with that repair.

All crews and contract crews will complete the restoration process today.

UPDATED 10 PM … Coweta-Fayette EMC started with over 17,500 members without power and now are down to 1,300.

It has been a long day, but our crews, warehousemen and dispatchers are going strong into the overnight hours.

Many of the remaining outages are smaller in nature (but not small to you!) so crews will be going from one to the next, and so on, until everyone is back on.

UPDATED: 7 PM … Coweta-Fayette EMC is currently reporting to have about 2,100 members without power. Crews have made great progress  getting almost 15,000 members restored since 4 a.m. this morning.

Coweta-Fayette EMC has crews in the Old Carrollton Highway area replacing a couple of broken poles. Another crew is in the Tommy Lee Cook area replacing a pole there as well.

Other crews are working in the Moreland, Senoia, Gordon Road and Welcome/Arnco areas.

Once these outages impacting feeder lines are repaired, crews will begin working on the outages impacting individuals.

This is expected to go late into the night, but their crews will continue working until everyone is back on.

UPDATED: 3:15 PM … Coweta-Fayette EMC crews continue to make progress on outage restoration with about 3,200 without power. They are currently working in Brooks, Ebenezer, Fairburn, Smokey Road/Corinth Road and in the west side of Coweta County. Most of Happy Valley is back on although a few pockets still remain. Most of Senoia is back on with the exception being in Deep South area where a pole is broken and crews are working to replace it.

There are a lot of scattered outages still across the system and Coweta-Fayette EMC will work until they are all restored.

UPDATED: 11:50 AM … The Coweta-Fayette EMC crews have made significant progress restoring power across the service area. The total numbers are down from 17,000 early this morning to around 7,000 remaining without power.

Crews are able to spot issues and restore power much quicker now that they are working in daylight hours. They have repaired most of the main lines which means we are left with numerous scattered outages and have identified at least 15 broke poles and there is a lot of line down.

Hardest hit areas are Happy Valley Road, Buddy West Road, Newnan Country Club area, Ebenezer Road, Robinson Road and North Fayette County.

All of the Coweta-Fayette EMC crews and contract crews are working and have brought in additional contract crews from Pike Electric to help as well. Everyone is expected to be working late into the evening to get everyone restored.

UPDATED: 10:15 AM … Crews are continuing to make progress restoring power across the system. The approximate number of members without power currently is 9,900. There are a lot of trees on the lines and lines down. Coweta-Fayette EMC is committed to continue to work until all power is restored.

Coweta-Fayette EMC has approximately 15,500 members out as of 8 a.m. today.

The high number of outages was over 17,000. As the sun rises here in Coweta County, the Coweta-Fayette EMC team is finding a lot of trees down and on wire.

They’re also encountering broken poles, which will take many hours to repair. This will be an all-day restoration effort.

Coweta-Fayette EMC can not give restoration times. Please report your outage to 770-502-0226, not via social media.
