Clothes Less Traveled (CLT), a nonprofit thrift shop serving Coweta and Fayette Counties, is proud to announce the distribution of $333,250 in grant funding to 56 local nonprofit organizations. Including this year’s giving, this brings the thrift shop’s total reinvestment back into the community to over $8.5 million over the past 28 years.
These grants support a wide range of causes, from feeding families and sheltering survivors of domestic violence, to empowering youth through education, and protecting the local environment. Every donated item, every thrifted purchase, and every hour volunteered at CLT fuels these grants.
“We’re proud to remain a reliable pillar of funding for so many local charities,” said Kimber Huff-Wilk, Executive Director of Clothes Less Traveled. “Since our founding in 1997, we’ve been committed to supporting organizations that are making a real difference in our community. At a time when many nonprofits are facing growing needs and tighter resources, we’re honored to stand beside them and provide support they can count on.”
CLT awards grants in three categories: Annual Grants, Founders’ Grants, and Service Award Grants.
Annual Grants are given to eligible nonprofits through a formal application process with CLT’s volunteer board of directors.
Founders’ Grants, named in honor of co-founders MaryAnn Cox and the late Joan Velsmid, are awarded specifically to Society of St. Vincent de Paul conferences serving in either Fayette or Coweta Counties.
CLT staff and volunteers receive Service Award Grants throughout the year to give away to an eligible charity of their choice, expanding the shop’s reach and impact.
This year’s recipients include 23 organizations serving Coweta County: AnotherWay Foundation, Backstreet Arts, Boys & Girls Club of Newnan-Coweta, CORRAL, Coweta CASA, Coweta Family Connection, Coweta FORCE, Coweta Samaritan Clinic, Coweta Special Olympics, Elevate Coweta, The Garden Club of Senoia, Hearts ’n Homes, Hope Revisited, I-58 Mission, Just Believe SIS, Newnan-Coweta Human Society, Newnan Theatre Company, Reece Center for Riding, RiverLife, Southern Arc Dance, Sleep in Heavenly Peace Coweta, Whiskers-N-Paws, and Coweta’s St. Vincent de Paul Society.
