Each November, communities across the country take part in Green Light a Vet — a simple but powerful way to show gratitude to the men and women who have served our nation.

The idea is easy: change just one light bulb to green as a symbol of appreciation and support for our veterans.

This year, Home Helpers Home Care of Newnan is inviting everyone in Coweta County to join us in “Greening Newnan” for the month of November.

Why green? Green represents hope, renewal, and well-being.

When you shine a green light on your porch, in your window, or at your business, you’re sending a heartfelt message to veterans in our community: “We see you. We support you. We thank you.”

This small gesture does more than just brighten our neighborhoods — it helps spark important conversations about the challenges veterans face after service and the local resources that can help them live well at home and in our communities.

Getting involved is easy:

• Replace one outdoor or window-facing light bulb with a green one and keep it glowing through the end of November.

• Or, get creative and use green LED strips, decorations, or light up a sign or building feature in green.

• Share your photos on social media with #OperationGreenLight or #GreenLightAVet to help spread the message.

Schools, churches, neighborhoods and businesses are all encouraged to participate. Across the nation, courthouses, bridges, and landmarks shined green during the week of Veterans Day. Let’s make sure Newnan joins in that spirit for the remainder of the month — lighting up our town in gratitude and unity.

At Home Helpers Home Care of Newnan, supporting veterans isn’t just a November project — it’s part of what we do every day.

Through the VA Homemaker Home Health Aide Program, Home Helpers is proud to provide in-home care for local veterans, helping them live safely and independently where they’re most comfortable — at home. Veterans can receive anywhere from 8 to 56 hours of care each week through this program at no cost , regardless of financial resources.

So this November, let’s come together as a community. Buy a green bulb. Turn it on. Tell a veteran you care.

Together, we can make Newnan shine bright with gratitude for those who’ve given so much.
