All eight students enrolled in West Georgia Technical College’s (WGTC) Customer Service

and Hospitality Integrated Education and Training (IET) program passed the Certified Gold Standard Professional (CGSP) exam, earning a 100% pass rate for the class.

The Customer Service and Hospitality IET program is offered through WGTC’s Adult Education division. The two-to-three-week course is designed to help students develop skills in communication, interviewing, team building, and customer service, while also receiving industry-specific training.

The Coweta County Board of Education appointed Dr. Shanna Downs as interim Superintendent of Coweta Schools, to follow the retirement of Dr. Evan Horton later this year. Downs, a Senoia resident, is a long-time Georgia educational leader who currently serves as the Executive Director of the West Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA).  She is a 30-year educator in Georgia who previously served as the Superintendent of Gilmer County Schools, from 2015 through 2021, before assuming the leadership of West Georgia RESA.

The Coweta County School System’s average composite SAT score for the graduating class of 2026 rose nine points over the previous year’s class, placing Coweta graduates well above state and national averages on the college entrance exam. Coweta Schools’ average SAT score rose to 1085 in 2026, 74 points above the national SAT average on the college entrance exam, and 54 points above the state average, comparing this year’s results for all public school students in the state of Georgia and the U.S.

The percentage of Coweta County School System high school seniors graduating on-time was 89.8 percent for Coweta’s class of 2026. This year’s graduation rate dropped slightly from the Coweta County School System’s previous high of 92.4 percent in 2025. Coweta County’s overall graduation rate was higher than the state of Georgia’s 2026 rate of 88.5 percent, Georgia’s highest rate ever.

The Coweta County Tax Commissioner’s Office announces that the 2026 property tax bills were mailed out to all property owners and payments are due Monday, December 7.  “Tax bills are mailed to the legal owner of record as of January 1 as required by Georgia law,” explains Tax Commissioner Justin McMichael. “However, bills are also mailed to the most current owner of a property as reflected on the Assessors’ records as of the date the billing file was created; that is, properties that have changed ownership since January 1.”
