Hundreds of motorcycle riders, volunteers and friends helped raise more than $20,000 for Coweta FORCE, one of the area’s largest addiction recovery organizations.

“Each year, we continue to surpass our goals, and we are beyond grateful for the love and support we receive from our amazing community,” the group said on their Facebook page.

A key founder of the annual ride was Wayne Stewart, who struggled with drugs for years and ended up in prison. He was ordered by the county’s Accountability Courts to come up with a community event that would help raise funds for worthwhile organizations.

From there, the annual Ride for Recovery was born, with proceeds going to Coweta FORCE.

“I am a person in recovery from substance abuse and it is imperative that I remain clean and sober,” Stewart said. “This is a way for me to give back and to help others in substance abuse.

Stewart is the operating partner of Precision Auto Tune 107-35, located near downtown Newnan. The local franchise has been the primary sponsor of the Ride the last three years.

He said he wanted to thank the local franchise for its continued support, as well as his wife Melissa. “I would not be here today without her.”

“We are honored to host this event and couldn’t do it without the support of our community partners and everyone who comes together to make a difference. Your continued dedication helps us move closer to recovery for all!,” said Coweta F.O.R.C.E. in a Facebook post.
