Clothes Less Traveled (CLT), the nonprofit thrift shop committed to empowering change in the local community, announces its reinvestment of $248,000 back into charities in Fayette and Coweta Counties.

This year, CLT awarded 57 grants to organizations spanning a diverse array of causes. From providing essential food for families to supporting victims of domestic violence, from fostering youth education to championing environmental preservation, every donation and purchase made at CLT directly contributes to sustaining these crucial programs.

Reflecting on this milestone, Executive Director Kimber Huff-Wilk expressed her excitement: “I’m thrilled that this year we are giving out more annual grants than ever before in CLT’s history. It’s an honor to be able to help so many nonprofits that are impacting our community in incredibly valuable ways.”

Huff-Wilk continued, “Providing grants is really a team effort. Every person who chooses to donate gently used items, to shop for quality thrifted goods, or to volunteer their time at our store is making a difference by supporting dozens of local nonprofits.”

Among the deserving nonprofit grant recipients, the following 34 organizations serve Fayette County: AnotherWay, Backstreet Community Arts, ChildrenConnect Museum, ClearWater Academy, CORRAL, Coweta CASA, Coweta FORCE, Coweta Pregnancy Services, Crossroads Christian School, Family Patterns Matter, Healing Bridge Clinic, Hearts n Homes, I-58 Mission, Midwest Food Bank, Newnan Coweta Angel’s House, Newnan Coweta Humane Society, Newnan Theatre Company, Reece Center, Rescue Cats, RiverLife, Senoia Historical Society, Southern Arc Dance, Southwest Christian Care, Square Foot Ministry, The Coweta Samaritan Clinic, The Joseph Sams School, West GA Domestic Violence Shelter, Whiskers n Paws, and one Society of St. Vincent de Paul conference.

These grants encompass two distinct categories: Annual Grants, which are awarded to eligible nonprofits after an application process; and Founders’ Grants, which honor CLT’s co-founders MaryAnn Cox and the late Joan Velsmid and support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul conferences in Fayette and Coweta Counties. CLT’s giving for 2024 is still not over as volunteers, Board members, and staff members of the thrift store give their Service Award Grants to eligible nonprofits throughout the year.

Since its inception 27 years ago, Clothes Less Traveled has remained dedicated to its mission of sharing God’s love by reinvesting proceeds from donations into local charities, distributing over $8 million in total to eligible nonprofits.
