March Trends and Trendsetters: Construction, Movie Theaters and the Senoia Library
By Corby Carlin Winters, The Shopper Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator
Each month, this column covers some of the hot trends from health and wellness, fashion and style, business or even tapping into your creative side.
Building is booming
New construction from roads, buildings to businesses and houses are popping up all over our area. You can’t get in your car and head anywhere without noticing it. Highway 29, Lower Fayetteville and Poplar Road are just some areas where growth is in full throttle. Roundabouts continue to be built and brand new roads seem to appear out of nowhere.
Soon we will have a new exit at Poplar Road off of Interstate 85 for easy access to Newnan Piedmont Hospital. Needless to say, restaurants, gas stations and so much more are on their way.
Movie theater extravagance
And an impromptu decision to go to the movies used to be easy. But before you grab your kids and keys, you might want to read this latest trend. Not long ago, I thought I would treat the SONS and take them and their friends to the movies. But Lordy, going to the movies today is a whole new adventure.
I can’t remember the last time I went to the movies before this latest adventure. We have a great theatre system at home and really don’t see the need to go out to a theater and spends lots of money. But clearly things have changed in the 21st Century, and I had a lot to learn.
Theaters are stepping up their game. No more sticky floors and chairs that flip up when you stand up. No waiting in long lines. Now you make reservations online and even reserve the seats you want. Now you can sit in big recliner chairs and actually put your feet up.
You can still get your popcorn and candy. But now you can order pesto chicken on focaccia bread, or pepperoni pizza, steak sandwiches and tacos and cheese cake and much more. This is not your parents movie theater. Heck this wasn’t even mine. Our kids have it good and so do we. So take it from the SONS and their friends – heading to the movies is worth every penny. Everyone will leave with a smile on their face and great memories that will last a longtime.
A library with a view
Libraries were always too quiet for me and I am most often too loud for them. But that said, I love them and find them inspiring. If you don’t want to get distracted from reading by household chores or just plain old life, then I highly recommend going to one of our many beautiful libraries.
The Senoia library is truly amazing and one of a kind. If you want to escape then head over there. I promise you can find a peaceful place to read and renew at this library. It overlooks a lake and has a massive covered porch. It’s a great place to relax and then hit lunch at one of the great spots in town. And don’t forget all the libraries are gearing up for their spring and summer programs so check out our calendars in The Shopper to find out more.
