Earlier today, Villa Rica Police Department honored two of our own for their act of bravery in the Carroll County officer-involved shooting that occurred on April 12, 2021. Deputies Tyler Yeager and Tyler Long, both members of our SWAT team, were on patrol when Coweta 911 put out a BOLO for a car that had just been involved in shooting at a GSP Trooper. Not knowing yet where the incident took place, deputies from Coweta County Patrol D shift made their way to the boat ramps on West Highway 16 in case the fleeing car came into Coweta County. The deputies scanned Carroll County’s radio, and once they learned officers had been struck by the shooters, they responded to the scene inside Carroll County. Once on scene, a second round of gunfire broke out not far from where they were assisting in setting up a perimeter. DS Yeager and DS Long, assisting the agencies already on scene, made their way to one downed officer. DS Long provided cover while DS Yeager rendered first aid. Once they got that officer to safety, they saw a second struck officer located nearby in a ditch. Again, they covered and rendered first aid to him while getting him to safety. The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office is extremely proud of Deputies Tyler Yeager and Tyler Long for their actions that morning. We are equally grateful to the Villa Rica Police Department for acknowledging them. After our community was struck by a devastating tornado on March 26, neighboring agencies sent officers in marked patrol cars to help us in our time of need. Likewise, we will always be there for our neighbors. Let’s just start off by saying you’re not goin Let’s just start off by saying you’re not going to find a Lunch No. 9 special or a Speedy Gonzales – not that we have a problem with either, mind you. What you will find are some upscale authentic dishes that will have your mouth watering just reading the descriptions. At first glance, one would think it is just a bakery. But Taco Criss Mexican Restaurant & Bakery is a whole lot more. We can honestly say there are several dishes we have not had before, and they were all delicious. Especially enjoyed their tortas, which is pretty much a taco supreme in a killer hamburger-like bread. Their tacos, served with onions, cilantro and lime, come in a lot of flavors: steak, beef tongue, chicken, chorizo, seasoned pork, fried pork and more. Fact is, you can pick your favorite protein with just about any dish. And that would include fajitas, sincronizadas and several of their house specialties. Don’t forget to check the latter out. With a screened in porch, it’s a perfect place for a date out, lunch or dinner. And don’t forget about the bakery for dessert.
