Lily Abigail, 7 lbs., 3 oz., and 20 inches long, was the first baby of the year born at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
Proud parents, Cara and Blake Harmon, and big sister Layla (7), welcomed a healthy baby girl at 9:39 p.m. on January 1. This is the couple’s second child, and both girls were delivered at Piedmont Newnan.
“We didn’t expect her arrival until January 2, but she couldn’t wait,” said Harmon. “We are all so happy she’s here, especially her big sister who wants to help with everything.”
Grantville residents, the Harmons both served in the U.S. Navy for four years, before returning home to Georgia in 2015. They met on base in Virginia. “He was wearing a Georgia hoodie, and we instantly started talking about both being from Georgia, growing up just an hour away from each other, and started dating after that.”
While January birthdays are common in their extended family, Lily is the first to be born on New Year’s Day.
“Babies are a constant source of happiness, wonder and joy and our team is fortunate to be a part of witnessing families welcome their newborns into the world and meeting the first babies in Coweta each year,” said Chris Cannon, Clinical Manager, Family Care Center and NICU at Piedmont Newnan. “We are all thrilled to be a part of the Harmon family’s special day and would like to congratulate and wish them a very Happy New Year!”
The Piedmont Newnan gift shop, The Poplar Shop, donated a gift basket to the first baby, presented to the family by the Family Care Center staff in honor of her special delivery.
Piedmont Newnan delivers about 1,800 babies annually.

Congratulations and welcome Lily Abigail!❤️❤️❤️
