From Coweta County Press Release

911/EMA Director Michael Terrell recently received the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) credential. He joins the growing list of 4,291 Certified Emergency Managers across the world who hold this designation.

A CEM® credential is the highest honor of professional achievement available from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). It is given to individuals who have work experience, formal education, extensive training, professional referrals, and a proven history of being active and involved in their profession. IAEM has more than 6,000 members who serve as emergency managers and are dedicated to protecting their communities and saving lives during emergencies and disasters.

“I am excited to become a Certified Emergency Manager,” shares 911/EMA Director Michael Terrell. “I plan on using my knowledge and experience to further improve Coweta County’s emergency management department and better prepare our community in case of disaster.”

Michael became the 911/EMA Director of Coweta County in 2019 after serving as the Chief Probation Officer for 20 years. He has led our community in emergency efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and the March 2021 EF-4 tornado, among several other events.

“We are proud of Michael for receiving the CEM® credential,” shares Administrator Michael Fouts. “This designation speaks to Michael’s commitment to expanding his skills as an emergency management professional. Coweta County is very fortunate to have him as one of our leaders.”
