FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6

CHRISTMAS TOUR OF HOMES 
4-9 p.m., Downtown Newnan
Everyone is invited to enjoy a festive night of touring some of the city’s most beautiful historic homes that gives Newnan its name – The City of Homes. As part of this year’s Christmas Tour of Homes hosted by Newnan Presbyterian School, the Newnan Coweta History Center is also hosting a Historic Church Candlelight Tour in downtown Newnan the following evening on Saturday, December 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. These are two cojoined fundraising events — one for the Newnan Presbyterian School and one for the Newnan-Coweta History Center! THE LOCALS NIGHT MARKET

SWEETLAND ON ICE

During the winter season, Sweetland Amphitheatre hosts a covered 5,500 square foot open-air ice-skating rink provided and operated by the Sweetland team. Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here. Hosted by Coweta County Parks & Recreation and Coweta County Animal Services. Bring your furry friends for a holiday photo op with Santa and help support Coweta County Animal Services with every picture taken. Every Saturday from now until December 7, the legendary village of Nottingham will open it’s gates for a fantastic Fall Fling Festival! HOGANSVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE AND HOLIDAY MARKET
3-7 p.m., Downtown Hogansville
The Holiday Market starts at 3pm at Askew Park (across from the Royal Theater). Santa will make an appearance from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for photos at the firetruck at Askew Park! (hint…hint…you may even spot him out and about after the parade outside the Royal Theater for an hour or so!) The Christmas Parade will begin at 6pm and will feature Grand Marshall’s Michelle Malone and the Hot Toddies! Also happening Saturday night at 7 p.m., Michelle Malone and the Hot Toddies will be performing Christmas tunes at the Royal Theater, followed by a special showing of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas!

Hear docents tell about the history of the church and take away historic information on each church on the tour which to date includes Newnan Presbyterian Church, Newnan First Methodist, Central Baptist Church, Newnan Chapel United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church.
