Below are some of the events in-and-around Coweta County this weekend (Friday-Sunday, May 2-4).

Friday, May 2 – Partly sunny with a high of 80 degrees (70% rain chance) and overnight low of 61 (60% rain chance).

FRIDAY, MAY 2

TODDLER STORY TIME – CANCELLED
10-11 am, Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan • 770-683-1347
Join the folks at the Carnegie Library for story time! Each session, we will explore a new theme through books, songs, and body movement. Activities will be followed by a themed craft or open play. This program is recommended for children ages 1-3, but siblings are welcome. No registration required!

FIRST FRIDAY AT FIRST AVENUE – SUPERHEROES!
4-7 pm, First Avenue Park, Downtown Newnan
Come dressed as your favorite superhero to meet Newnan’s hometown heroes and some visiting comic book heroes! There will also be other fun activities happening, stay tuned and join us for another free and fun-filled family event! Sponsored by Newnan Leisure Services, Newnan Fire Department and Newnan Carnegie Library.

THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG

From Mischief, Broadway masters of comedy, comes the smash hit farce. Welcome to opening night of the Cornley University Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show—an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). Tickets are $40, Seniors $35 and Children 12-and-under $20. CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG JR.
7:30 pm, Wadsworth Auditorium, 25 Jefferson Street, Newnan
Presented by Newnan Theatre Company’s Academy of Theatre Arts. Eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts, sets about restoring an old race car with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car is magic, and has the ability to float and take flight. When the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself, the family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher. SATURDAY, MAY 3

13TH ANNUAL RACE FOR THE ORPHANS 5K
7:45 am, First Baptist Church, 15 West Washington Street, Newnan
Run to change lives! Join more than 1,000 participants for this 13th Annual RACE for the Orphans. ORION Racing powered by Start2Finish will professionally manage the 5K finish line and use RFID chip timing to ensure the most accurate finish times possible. The 5K course is USATF Certified (#GA19094WC) and a qualifier for The Atlanta Journal & Constitution Peachtree Road Race Qualifier. Runners, walkers and strollers welcome. The Tot Trot for ages 5 and under begins at 7:45 am, followed by Mia’s Mile Fun Run/Walk at 8. The 5K begins at 8:30 and awards at 9:30. For more info, visit www.racefortheorphans.org.

PAPER SHREDDING / TEXTILE RECYCLING
8 am-Noon, Newnan City Hall Parking Lot, 25 LaGrange Street, Newnan
Keep Newnan Beautiful is set to host a dual recycling event on Saturday. The event will feature Paper Shredding and KNB’s inaugural Textile Recycling. Both will take place from 8 a.m. to Noon in the parking lot behind Newnan’s City Hall. The Paper Shredding portion is the second of four such events in 2025. The first three bags or boxes are FREE for Coweta County residents. After that, it’s $3 per bag or box.There are no fees or limits to the Textile Recycling segment. SENOIA FARMER’S MARKET
8:30 am – 1 pm, 40 Travis Street, Senoia
Locally-sourced Farmer’s Market, every Saturday. Fresh produce, baked goods, local artisans and much more.

PEACHTREE CITY MARKET
9 am- 1 pm, Aberdeen Village Shopping Center, Aberdeen Parkway, Peachtree City
Approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats and more. Also live music.

SERENBE FARMERS AND ARTISTS MARKET
9 am-1 pm, 10640 Serenbe Lane, Chattahoochee Hills
This weekly market partners with quality vendors including growers, artisans, craftmakers and healthy food producers. The market is filled with fresh produce, delicious foods, fine arts and crafts.

THE COTTON FAIR
9 am-5 pm, 18830 Highway 85, Gay
It’s the spring edition of The Cotton Fair, an arts, crafts, and antiques show located in Gay, GA. Over 300 artisans from all over the country will gather on their grounds. They have wonderful items in store for you and can’t wait for you to take them home! Gates are open from 9 am to 5 pm each day. Do not bring pets for the safety comfort of all our guests. Service animals ONLY. Parking is free and on a first come, first parked basis. Come early on Saturday to help avoid the traffic or visit Sunday which tends to be slightly less crowded. Online tickets are $10 General Admission and free for children 10-and-under. 3RD ANNUAL HOT RODS FOR HISTORY
9 am-3 pm, 148 Pylant Street, Senoia
Hosted by the Senoia Area Historical Society. The event will include over 250 collector and performance cars, trucks and motorcycles parked lakeside at Marimac Lakes (behind the Coweta Public Library) in Senoia. DOWNTOWN NEWNAN MARKET DAY
10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Courthouse Square, downtown Newnan
It’s the third Market Day of 2025. The event is hosted by Main Street Newnan on the first Saturday of every month. The Market features over 55 unique spaces, with a variety of one-of-a-kind gift items. Market Day favorites include: fresh locally grown produce, honey, jams & jellies, pottery, art, hand-woven baskets, leather products, etc.

GUIDED MEDITATION AND BREATHING
11 am-Noon, Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan
Join the Newnan Carnegie Library and Misty Caples, Yoga Instructor, where we will be hosting a free Guided Meditation and Breathing Exercise session.
