A Note detailing the Path to Success

By CORBY CARLIN WINTERS, Ambassador At Large
I have often shared about my mom and dad’s extraordinary impact on my life. Yet, they also impacted the lives of so many others. I have shared their stories in churches, blogs and with friends and clients. I always talk about them, even though they passed in 2009 and 2010.
My parents were gifted at helping others, advising and guiding them to find their calling and step into their purpose, both in their work and spiritual life. They wrote so many handwritten notes of encouragement and wisdom. As I write this post it makes me reflect on my love of ministry, counseling and being a life coach. My greatest passion has always been helping others fulfill their dreams and step into their purpose.
I still tear up every time I read this small handwritten note with just six tips to success. Tip number 4 was for me because I have dyslexia and a learning disability, but they urged me to always go after my dreams. And yes, they knew I would never work in a bank counting money. Trust me, that is not my gift. I have this precious note posted throughout my house for a reminder of their encouragement.. It is amazing how much our written words can touch us for years to come.

Dear Corby:
Success is the result of:
1. Having a Dream
2. Give it all you’ve got
3. Believe in yourself and believe in your dream
4. Work within your limits and your capabilities
5. Enjoy and love what you are doing
6. Set some realistic goals for yourself and be patient
Enjoy,
Our love Mom and Dad
I pray you are blessed and encouraged, my dear friends. I hope these words will encourage you, help jump-start your dream, and get you on the road to success as you step into your purpose and fulfill your dreams. Maybe they will even encourage you to share your knowledge and insight with someone you know needs your wise words.
