Special Needs Day – 2025 Kiwanis Coweta County Fair

On the only Tuesday that the Kiwanis Coweta County Fair is held, the parking lot is crammed with dozens of yellow school buses.
They start arriving around 11 a..m. Soon, roughly 600 special needs children and adults, as well as parents and caregivers, begin to swarm the rides. The Ferris Wheel is always a big hit, as is the merry-go-round and the bumper cars.
For a couple of hours or so, kids are picked up out of their wheel chairs and get to ride and slide and twirl and … well, have some semblance of a “normal” childhood. And then after all the rides, they all sit together for lunch.
Ask any Kiwanian and they will tell you the best time of the fair is those few hours on that Tuesday when the gates are open solely for those kids, adults parents and caregivers.
It is a very Special Day indeed.
