FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME

Join the folks at Carnegie Library for story time! Each session, we will explore a new theme through books, songs, and body movement. Activities will be followed by a themed craft or open play. This program is recommended for children ages 3-6, but siblings are welcome. No registration is required.

LIFE CYCLE OF A CHESTNUT TREE

Homeschool families join us for a hands on learning experience! We will be learning how to sprout chestnut seeds, watching them grow and then transplanting them on the park.

HOMESCHOOL: FALL SPIDERS OF GEORGIA HIKE

Hiking during the fall you are sure to see or run into spider webs while hiking. Come hike to see and learn about the spiders who call the trails home at Chattahoochee Bend. Find out why they are not as scary as they appear and how they benefit the environment. $5 parking, $3 a child. Call the Visitor Center to prepay.

GRIFFIN HOUSE BAZAAR
10-5 pm, 390 Jackson Street, Suite D, Newnan
Join them to discover antiques, local art, vintage clothing, hand-created goodies, food trucks, home decor, mahjong, vintage wares & more! The Griffin House Bazaar is held the third week of each month – Thursday thru Saturday. Located in the former EMC building across from CVS.

FREE CONCERT
5-7 pm, Madras Park, 2355 Highway 29 North, Newnan
Coweta County Senior Services is hosting the 3rd Annual Madras Park Concert with the performing band – Double Granite. The event is free and open to the public. Tell all your friends and neighbors, grab your lawn chair or blanket and come to enjoy live music and delicious bites from Harlemchop Food Truck. Will be held rain or shine. In case of rain, the concert will move to the gymnasium.

2025 OAK HILL CEMETERY TOUR
5 pm, McRitchie-Hollis Museum, 74 Jackson Street, Newnan • 770-251-0207
Explore the fascinating history of Oak Hill Cemetery under the stars and shine a light on local history! Join Newnan-Coweta History Center to stroll at dusk through Newnan’s Historic Oak Hill Cemetery on a guided walk of select gravesites. Storytellers and guides captivate guests with lively, engaging tales while vendors, musicians, and artists also contribute to this special event that celebrates living, history and the arts. Check-in for the Tour is the McRitchie-Hollis Museum. New tours head out every 20 minutes until the last scheduled tour at 8 p.m. Also, take in the museum tour featuring performers and festive decor. Enjoy live entertainment and Oink Joint BBQ Food Truck in the back garden of the museum– it’s included with the ticket. Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes! OCTOBER: SENOIA ALIVE AFTER FIVE
5-9 pm, Downtown Senoia
Join everyone for a Spooky Alive After Five. The event features live music performances by local musicians, food trucks, and vendors selling handcrafted artisan goods, jewelry, artwork and much more! During Senoia Alive After Five, many of the shops and restaurants in the downtown area stay open late, offering special deals and discounts. This is a great opportunity to shop local after usual business hours!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18

TIRE AMNESTY DAY
8 am-Noon, Hunter Recreational Complex, 2970 Highway 16 East, Sharpsburg
Are you a Coweta County resident with old tires in a garage, workshop or backyard that needs disposing of? Then, Keep Newnan Beautiful has the answer for you. Keep Newnan Beautiful is hosting a Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, October 18. This event is for Coweta County residents ONLY (must have valid Coweta Driver’s License) who have old tires they need rid of. It will take place at the Hunter Recreational Complex, located at 2970 Highway 16 East in Sharpsburg, from 8 a.m. to Noon. This will be the only Tire Amnesty Event of 2025. Car and Truck tires are free for disposal for Coweta County residents. The tires must be off rim. Fees do apply with larger tires or tires with rims. For more information, click HERE.

FALL PLANT SALE

It’s the Fall Plant Sale hosted by the Coweta County Extension Master Gardeners. Attendees can purchase perennials, shrubs, trees and more. Will be held in the Greenhouse behind the UGA Coweta County Extension Office. They encourage everyone to bring wagons and boxes for ease of shopping.

Get your costume ready for the 4th Annual Senoia Police Department Trunk or Treat. Enjoy lots of candy and see their police cars decorated. Costume contest at 10:30 am, fire truck, hayrides, music, inflatables, petting zoo and candy!

PEACHTREE CITY MARKET

Approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats and more. Also live music.

SERENBE FARMERS AND ARTISTS MARKET
9 am-1 pm, 10640 Serenbe Lane, Chattahoochee Hills
This weekly market partners with quality vendors including growers, artisans, craftmakers and healthy food producers. The market is filled with fresh produce, delicious foods, fine arts and crafts.

LEWIS GRIZZARD GAMES
9:30 am, Moreland Elementary School, 145 South Railroad Street, Moreland
The Lewis Grizzard Games, a pair of athletic competitions, celebrates this man of many talents. Honoring the accomplished sports journalist and amateur athlete, the 2025 edition of the Lewis Grizzard Games takes place on his birthday weekend, October 18 and October 20. This event is sponsored by the Moreland Cultural Arts Alliance, Inc., which operates the museum dedicated to the one and only Grizzard. The Games include two exciting sporting events: exhibition softball games and a golf tournament. Taking place on Saturday, October 18, the Grizzard Games Invitational Softball plays at Lewis’ alma mater, Moreland Elementary School. The first pitch is thrown at 9:30 a.m., and it features celebrities in our region. Coweta Chaos, the award-winning girls youth softball team plays an exhibition game immediately following the celebrities match on the same field. Spectators are invited to come out and cheer on the teams, and they are welcomed to bring their own portable seating; metal bleachers provide some seating. Food is available for purchase. The Grizzard museum opens immediately following the games. Admission to the games and the museum is free that day. This is a great fall outing for families. The Games Golf Tournament takes place on Lewis Grizzard’s birthday, Monday, October 20 at White Oak Golf Club. 27TH ANNUAL HUMMINGBIRD FESTIVAL
10 am-5 pm, Downtown Hogansville
The 27th Annual Hogansville Hummingbird Festival will be held in Downtown Hogansville October 18th & 19th from 10am-5pm. Once again, they will have nearly 200 arts, crafts, and artesian snack booths, live music and food trucks!

4TH ANNUAL BEEF FESTIVAL
10 am-2 pm, Carroll County Ag Center, 900 Newnan Road, Carrollton
The 4th annual Beef Festival will be held to promote the beef cattle industry in Carroll County and the greater West Georgia area. The festival will feature a Beef Chili Cook-off, live cattle display and working demonstration, farm-related vendors, kid’s activities, hay rides, and face painting.  Have lunch at the event with beef hamburgers and hotdog plates.  To enter the Beef Chili Cook-Off contest, bring your award-winning chili in a crockpot and a half table will be available for set up to sample per contestant.  Entry is $10 and prizes will be awarded.   For more information contact UGA Extension Carroll County at 770-836-8546.

Please join the Newnan Carnegie Library and Sarah Leatherman as we go on a journey of sound healing. We will begin with a few minutes of gentle movement to relax you, then work through some guided breath-work practices to help center and focus the mind, followed by an immersion of sound allowing you to drift into a meditative state. Relaxation and focusing on the sound can have a calming effect, bring you more into the present moment, and help to create a deeper relationship with Self.
