From Special Reports:

The Coweta County Board of Education named Stefanie Easterwood as the new principal of East Coweta High, to succeed Principal Steve Allen when he retires later this year.

Easterwood has served as the principal of Arnall Middle School since 2024, and is a former East Coweta High Assistant Principal, and a former Chemistry teacher and science department chair at the high school.

She is a 31-year educator who began as a science teacher in Fayette County Schools, before moving to Coweta to teach math at Arnall Middle in 2000, to East Coweta High as a chemistry teacher in 2002, and also as a special education teacher at Arnall and Lee from 2004 through 2011.  She returned to East Coweta High where she taught chemistry, astronomy, physical and Earth Sciences, as well as served as science department chair and led school improvement teams.

Easterwood served as EC Assistant Principal under Allen from 2017 through 2024.  She earned her Bachelor’s in Biology and Pre-Med before teaching, and has earned her Master’s and Specialist degree from LaGrange College.

Current EC principal Steve Allen – known affectionately as “Chief” – is retiring at the end of the school year after a 30-year career in education in Coweta, and 11 years as East Coweta’s principal.

The Board also named Arbor Springs Elementary School Principal Dr. Stephanie Golden as the school system’s new Director of Early Literacy and Professional Learning, to lead the district’s expanded literacy programs. Dr. Golden, who has served as principal since 2022, will take that position after the current school year.

Both appointments will leave openings for new principals next year at Arnall Middle and Arbor Springs Elementary School.
