Entertain Kids This Summer

School is out for summer break, and children are looking forward to fun activities, new adventures and playing with their friends. Because many families are on a budget, parents are seeking ways to help their kids have an enjoyable summer while stretching their hard-earned dollars. This summer, local movie theaters, fitness centers, libraries and more are offering programs to help parents entertain their kids on a budget.
Free Movies at the Wadsworth
Movie lovers can enjoy a variety of free movies throughout the year at the Charles Wadsworth Auditorium. Crafts and activities will also be provided at select showings. Here’s the movie schedule:

Summer Movie Express at Regal
Through Aug. 13, more than 380 Regal theatres nationwide will offer the family-friendly Summer Movie Express program. Participating theatres will feature two PG-rated movies at 11 a.m. every Monday through Thursday for only a $1 ticket price. A portion of the admission proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
In Coweta County, moviegoers can view the films at Regal Georgian Stadium 14 at 32 Newnan Crossing Bypass in Newnan, Ga. Here’s the movie schedule:

Regal is also offering two discounted snack items with the purchase of a ticket to a Summer Movie Express showtime. All attendees will receive $3 off a cup of Dippin’ Dots ice cream or a Snack Pack, which includes a junior-sized drink, popcorn and fruit gummies.
Advance tickets for Summer Movie Express showtimes are now available for $1 at theatre box offices/kiosks, on the mobile app and through REGmovies.com. Members of Regal Unlimited can also secure tickets for Summer Movie Express titles as part of their monthly subscription.
Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass
Through Aug. 31, high school teens (ages 14 to 19) can work out for free at any participating Planet Fitness location in the United States and Canada.
The High School Summer Pass program is designed to promote youth health and wellness and provide an opportunity for millions of teens to improve their physical and mental health, according to a Planet Fitness press release.
This year, participants will receive an exclusive discount for Gymshark, the gymwear brand, after signing up for the free summer membership.

Coweta Summer Reading Challenge
Through July 24, readers of all ages (pre-school, elementary, middle school, high school and adults) can participate in the 2026 Coweta Summer Reading Challenge. Registration has started (online or at local library), and participants can read and win.
