From an early age Lewis discovered his passion for all sports. Around age
14, he declared his aspiration to be a sports journalist. By age 23 Grizzard
became the youngest ever executive sports editor for the Atlanta newspapers.
Lewis loved to play any sport; his love of sports never wavered. Playing for
Newnan High School, he lettered in baseball and basketball. As an adult
Lewis developed a passion for tennis and golf. “Playing Lewis’ favorite
sport seems a fitting tribute to the author and athlete. Hopefully, this golf
tournament will encourage players and fans to learn about Grizzard in a
new way-especially young people,” says Carol Chancey, founder and organizer
of the GAMES. Proceeds from the LEWIS GRIZZARD GAMES GOLF TOURNAMENT and -more-

Birthday Bash support new exhibits and operating the
Lewis Grizzard Hometown Heritage Museum in Moreland, Georgia which
fosters his legacy.
