Yamaha Helps With Community Cleanup!

At Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation (YMMC), caring for the environment and the surrounding community isn’t limited to one day on the calendar. It’s a responsibility woven into the company’s everyday operations.
Each fall, YMMC brings its team members together for its annual Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Day, an opportunity to step away from daily routines and focus on the importance of workplace safety, employee well-being, and environmental stewardship.
This year’s celebration, held October 22, featured environmental cleanup activities throughout the company’s 280-acre manufacturing campus in Newnan. Employees worked together to collect litter, maintain outdoor areas, and demonstrate that even small actions can contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment.
Team members also received seed packets to take home and plant, extending the day’s message of sustainability beyond the workplace and into their own homes and neighborhoods.
“We believe being a responsible manufacturer means looking beyond the products we build,” said Belize Ellison, Manager of Environment and Sustainability. “It’s about taking care of our people, protecting the environment, and being a positive part of the community where we live and work. EHS Day gives our employees an opportunity to see firsthand how their individual actions make a difference.”
Turning Everyday Environmental Efforts Into Community Impact
While EHS Day is an annual tradition, YMMC’s commitment to environmental responsibility continues throughout the year.
Through ongoing recycling and waste-reduction initiatives, the company works to conserve resources, minimize waste, and promote responsible manufacturing practices.
But the impact of these efforts reaches well beyond the manufacturing campus.
In 2025 alone, YMMC diverted more than 7,500 tons of material from landfills and recycled 7,000 tons of material demonstrating its ongoing commitment to reducing waste and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices. Through its recycling-funded community grant program, YMMC also supported more than 50 local nonprofit organizations and schools, awarding over $120,000 in grants to help address a wide range of community needs.
From supporting educational opportunities to strengthening local programs and services, these contributions demonstrate how everyday environmental efforts can create a lasting impact beyond the manufacturing campus.
“What makes our recycling program so meaningful is that it creates a positive impact in more than one way,” said Matthew Smith, Recycling and Waste Coordinator/Waste Water Tech. “We’re reducing waste while also generating resources that can help schools and nonprofit organizations meet important needs in our community. It’s a great example of how responsible manufacturing can make a difference beyond our facility.”
Building a Culture of Safety and Responsibility
In addition to environmental activities, EHS Day featured interactive opportunities for employees to strengthen their awareness of workplace health and safety.
The activities encouraged team members to recognize potential hazards, practice safe behaviors, and consider how everyday decisions contribute to a safer workplace.
For YMMC, the event reinforces a simple message: safety and environmental responsibility are shared commitments that require participation at every level of the organization.
By bringing employees together around these priorities each fall, YMMC continues to build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and pride in both its workplace and its community.
“Our employees are what make these efforts successful,” said Kristin Webb, Manager of Communications and Engagement. “Whether they’re looking out for a coworker, participating in a cleanup, or helping us reduce waste, their commitment makes a difference. That’s what EHS Day is really about.”
Through initiatives like EHS Day and its ongoing community grant program, YMMC continues to demonstrate that being a responsible manufacturer means investing not only in its operations, but also in the people and communities that make its success possible.
