Last week’s frigid, albeit brief, temperatures were a reminder that the holidays are just around the corner.
In fact, the 2025 Holiday Season in Coweta County begins on Friday, November 21 as both downtown Newnan and Senoia have events to get everything kickstarted.
The Holiday Sip and See in Newnan and the Senoia: Alive After Five Mistletoe Market include food trucks, night markets, live music and more. Both events are from 5 to 9 p.m.
Of course the Holiday Season’s main character for the kiddos is Santa Claus. Santa has appearances sprinkled throughout late November and December including some major ones here in Coweta. One of the first events Santa will attend is Ashley Park’s Lights Up Holiday Festival on Saturday, November 22. He arrives at 5 p.m. and the tree lighting and LED light show follows at 6 p.m. He returns on Friday, November 28 as Main Street Newnan hosts Santa on the Square from 6-8 p.m. on North Court Square. He’ll light the Christmas tree and then invite kids to sit on his lap and read their Christmas list to him.
Santa has another stop scheduled for Senoia and the Light Up Senoia Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 6. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include visits with Santa following the parade.
The Newnan-Coweta History Center hosts Cookies with Santa the next afternoon from 1-3:30 p.m. There will be tours of the McRitchie-Hollis Museum and cookies and photos with Santa.
Santa’s final major appearances in Coweta prior to Christmas will take place on Saturday, December 13. He’ll be at the 5th Annual Christmas at Madras Park for pictures with families along with a doughnut breakfast at 10 a.m., then remain for the 4th Annual Paws and Claus at Madras where folks can bring their furry friends and pose with Santa for a photo at 11:45 a.m. And later that evening, Santa will be at the City of Newnan’s Annual Christmas Parade. This year’s parade theme is “A Nutcracker Christmas” and starts at 6 p.m. Santa will take part in the parade riding in a firetruck.
Newnan Theatre Company offers a pair of holiday performances beginning with “A Very N.I.T.W.I.T.S. Holiday Special” on Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22. Both one-of-a-kind improvisation shows are at 8 p.m. NTC follows that with three weekends of “A Very Pandering Christmas Carol” on December 4-7, 11-14 and 18-21. This musical comedy takes Charles Dickens’ beloved classic and gives it a delightfully ridiculous twist with surprise guest from Christmas movies.
Southern Arc Dance Center has announced the return of its annual holiday production – The Nutcracker – with three performances scheduled at Wadsworth Auditorium. There are two shows on Saturday, November 29 at 3 and 7 p.m., and a matinee on Sunday, November 30 at 3 p.m.
If you love gingerbread, Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity is presenting its 9th Annual Great Gingerbread Build and Gingerbread Market on Sunday, December 7. It will be held at the Newnan Historic Train Depot from 1-4 p.m. with the build competition, hot cocoa, treats and festive music.
The Annual Coweta County Senior Christmas Luncheon is slated for a pair of dates – Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11 – at the Coweta County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Please RSVP by December 8 by calling 770-683-8600.
Another celebration is the 2025 Senoia Area Historical Society Holiday Party. It takes place on Thursday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. at 6 Couch Street in Senoia.
The Newnan Junior Service League is set to host its 42nd Annual Can-A-Thon on Tuesday, December 2. This event is when NJSL joins forces with Coweta County Schools and businesses to collect canned goods and monetary donations for the Coweta Community Food Pantry. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with drop off locations on the Newnan Courthouse Square and Regions Bank at Thomas Crossroads.
A pair of Tour of Homes are also on the holiday docket. On Friday, December 5, Newnan Presbyterian School conducts the 10th Annual Newnan Tour of Homes: Christmas Tour from 4-9 p.m. Tickets are available online and at Gilleyweeds. And on Saturday, December 14, Enjoy Senoia holds the 2025 Candlelight Tour of Homes in downtown Senoia from 3-8 p.m. Tickets are on sale online.
And there’s shopping and plenty of it. Most notably, downtown Newnan has Plaid Friday scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving on November 28 as the term “Plaid Friday” celebrates the idea of Local! And the very next day – Saturday, November 29 – it’s Small Business Saturday, an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. And the final Main Street Newnan Market Day on the downtown Square in 2025 comes on Saturday, December 6.
