KNB Partners with Escobar’s Eagle Scout Project

The community now has a new way to connect with nature thanks to the dedication and leadership of Elias Escobar,16, a member of Troop 897 based out of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. Eli successfully completed his Eagle Scout service project by constructing a walking path behind the Keep Newnan Beautiful Outdoor Classroom at 14 Carmichael Street.
The project represents an important milestone in his journey toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting. The newly created path winds beneath a canopy of trees, offering visitors the feeling of walking through a peaceful forest setting while remaining in the heart of a suburban community. Designed to provide a quiet and inviting natural retreat, the trail creates an opportunity for residents of all ages to
enjoy the outdoors, reflect, exercise, and experience the calming benefits of nature.
The project was completed on April 13 with the help of volunteers who assisted in clearing brush, leveling the ground, spreading materials, and improving accessibility along the route. Through thoughtful planning and strong leadership, Elias Escobar transformed an underused space into a meaningful community asset that will serve residents and visitors for years to come.
The path is expected to benefit a wide variety of users, including neighborhood residents seeking a nearby walking destination, local college students looking for an outdoor study or relaxation space, and children using the outdoor classroom for hands-on learning and exploration. Access to natural spaces is increasingly important in growing suburban communities. Time spent outdoors can improve physical health, reduce stress, encourage creativity, and strengthen community
connections. By creating a safe and welcoming walking path, this project helps bring those benefits closer to home for many local families. This Eagle Scout project reflects the values of service, leadership, and stewardship of the environment. The community is grateful to Elias Escobar and all who supported the effort to make this vision a reality.
