Let’s Talk Local Tacos

Everyone in Coweta County knows there are great options when it comes to Mexican food. But who has the best?
The large popular restaurants tend to overshadow the smaller taquerias and restaurants where you will find the best and most authentic tacos and other mouthwatering fare.
Five years ago, we moved to Newnan from a small rural town in Connecticut. As self-proclaimed connoisseurs of tacos, we were pretty excited to find Coweta County full of hole-in-the wall taquerias and Mexican restaurants that in our past, would have required a long drive.
Traveling the country we have tried more tacos than we can count and quickly realized we could find some of the best we’ve ever had right down the road. We enjoy incorporating a stop at one of these fine establishments on our typical afternoon Harley ride, and before long we found ourselves with a ranking list of all the taco spots in Georgia that we have been to, as a quick reference guide for future rides.
When it comes to tacos, we have some pretty strong opinions, so while we could talk about the best tacos from Valdosta to Blue Ridge, here are some places you may love without going far.
Our Favorites
La Casa Del Taco
173 Highway 85, Senoia
This taqueria ran out of a food truck with a great covered outdoor seating area, full-service staff, and an extensive menu. Here you will find some amazing authentic tacos with homemade tortillas, chicken and pork tamales, and Mexican street corn. We also appreciate that they give a variety of salsas with their tacos as well.
Tacos Mi Veracruz
21 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan
This restaurant stands out for their authentic style food and delicious menu options. It has a quiet atmosphere and is smaller than others you will find in Newnan. Wonderful service with attention to detail on their food makes it a great choice for lunch or dinner. Also, large margarita and ice-cold Mexican beers to cheers with friends or for a relaxing family night out.
Juquilta 2
272 Greenville Street South, Newnan
Just south of downtown you will find four taquerias, all on route 27 that are very good, but this one stands out as the best. This small taqueria built into a grocery store offers very flavorful tacos with many choices of meat options, along with other authentic Mexican options. Our favorite tacos here are their steak (Asada) tacos!
