Local group celebrates International Female Ride Day

From Special Reports
If you were around Newnan on Saturday, May 31, 2025 and noticed a big group of motorcycles lead by a police escort, it was a group of 69 women on motorcycles celebrating International Female Ride Day.
Originally planned for Saturday, May 3rd, it was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
International Female Ride Day is a global event held on the first Saturday of May. The event was founded by Motoress Magazine Founder Vicki Gray 19 years ago. The day celebrates women motorcycle riders and is not country, group or organizationally specific – it is a globally synchronized “JUST RIDE!” © day, for women.
Women make International Female Ride Day ® their day to “JUST RIDE!” doing what they can to promote and highlight women riders while making a positive difference for women in motorcycling and powersports everywhere. Every woman riding on IFRD is a role model for the diverse, unique and common passion women share for motorcycling and powersports. It is an all brands and all styles motorcycling happening and extends across all borders and cultures the world over.
Two years ago, a group of Newnan women decided it was time to celebrate this outstanding day in our community. In addition to celebrating the day, the ladies decided to include vendors, a charitable component and a grand marshal who is chosen due to their commitment to further women’s riding.
The 2024 event hosted 35 women, raised $1,200 for City of Hope’s Patient Assistance Fund and this year; they hosted 69 women and raised $2,225 for Coweta Samaritan Clinic.
Save the date for 2026 as this group of women will celebrate the 20th Annual Female Ride Day with a bang! There will be a ladies bike night and pre-registration pick up at Line Creek Reserve on Friday, May 1st from 6-9 p.m. and then the actual ride and event will be held on Saturday, May 2nd from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds. Registration will open on January 2 and will be $30, which will include the official patches and lunch. The ride will be limited to the first 100 who register. Proceeds from the 2026 event will be donated to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Annual Bicycle Build Off. The event will once again have Bigfoot Cycles as the premier partner, it will include local band Cover Story performing again and Life of the South Catering will be the featured caterer for the event.
