Newnan Utilities Responds to Devastating Storm Damage in our Community

In response to the devastating storms that hit Newnan overnight, Newnan Utilities crews, along with crews from other utilities from near and far, are working around the clock to restore power for all of the outages throughout our system as quickly and as safely as possible.

We apologize for the disruption of service as a result of the storms. We truly appreciate our customers patience and understanding as our crews work to restore power and clean up downed powerlines and debris. So that we may restore power to the community as quickly as possible, we encourage everyone to stay home to keep off the roads so that the public safety workers and our crews can clear the roads of trees, powerlines, and debris. We also want to ask anyone using generators to use them safely and not to backfeed. Backfeeding is when a portable generator is tied directly into a home’s electric panel.  Doing so could energize your house and endanger utility workers.

“When trouble hits our community, I’m always in awe of our employees and their dedication to serve our customers and the community. I’m forever grateful for their commitment to work day and night to restore services as quickly and safely as possible,” said Dennis McEntire, Newnan Utilities General Manager.
