Sharpsburg author Skip Johnson has been named a finalist in the 2026 Georgia Author of the Year Awards.

This GAYA recognition is Skip’s second honor this year for his newest fiction book The Five Secrets of Luck.

Two months ago, the book—his twelfth—was named the Inspirational category winner in The Maxy Awards, making Johnson the first author to be a two-time winner in the eleven year-history of that literary competition.

The Georgia Author of the Year Awards were established in 1964 and are held annually to celebrate the best books by Georgia authors.

Xfinity

A new Xfinity retail store is planned for Peachtree City, with build-out work now underway at McDuff Crossing.

The store will be located next to The UPS Store in Suite 2802. According to a permit pulled by the City of Peachtree City, the project includes interior tenant improvements for a new Xfinity retail tenant moving into an existing space.

The scope of work includes electrical, plumbing, and new 8-foot wall display fixtures. The permit lists the project value at $110,000.

Xfinity retail stores typically give customers a place to explore internet, mobile, television, and home technology services, along with equipment support and account assistance.

Waffle House

Waffle House fans in Coweta County have a new place to enjoy their favorite breakfast, lunch, and comfort food classics. A new Waffle House is now officially open at 230 Bullsboro Drive in Shenandoah Plaza, conveniently located near Planet Fitness.

The new restaurant is serving customers while the Waffle House on Temple Avenue undergoes temporary renovations, ensuring local diners can still enjoy the chain’s signature menu without interruption.

The Bullsboro Drive location offers many of the favorites Waffle House is known for, including scattered, smothered, and covered hashbrowns, All-Star breakfasts, waffles, burgers, sandwiches, and more.
