Briefly describe yourself and what you do/did.

Jess Barron, Associate Broker/Vice President at Lindseys Inc. Realtors. (Editor’s note: Way too modest. Jess is the Kiwanis Clubs’ Citizen of the Year and serves on numerous non-profit boards.)

Best piece of advice you’ve received.

You cant do it all.

If I had it to do over …

I would say “no” more. I put too much on myself, but it also made me who I am.

You are going on an extended solo trip. What three albums and three books would you take?

Led Zeppelin – MotherShip. Rolling Stones – 40 Licks. Dave Matthews Band – Any live album. Honorable Mention – The Killers – Hot Fuss. I could put twenty answers here. I listen to music all day and it really gets me through stressful and difficult days.

Anything by Malcom Gladwell. 1984, Of Mice and Men are a couple of other favorites.

Tell us one thing about yourself that few people know

I hit three home runs in one baseball game, two in one inning when I was in high school.

You are hosting a dinner party for six. What five people, living or dead, would you invite and why

My parents, My wife Meredith, My daughters Braelinn and Bentley. One too many. Sorry

Name an as yet unfulfilled dream

A stand-up routine could be in the works

If you weren’t doing what you are, you would be …

really have no idea. Teaching? Coaching?

Your go-to food.

still love good ol’ fried chicken or a nice filet mignon with a glass of red wine

Favorite movies(s)

Forrest Gump. So much depth, love, humor and wisdom in that movie.

Dogs or cats?

Cats man. Way more chill.

Your favorite quote and why. People talk about and seek meaning to life. This quote comes pretty close in my opinion.

“To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Name something that you are extremely glad you did or accomplished

Personally, becoming a father is a huge and positive game changer. You are no longer the center of your universe. Professionally, getting to a place where your clients and their referrals are your lead source. When I first started in real estate, I wasn’t sure I could get here. It was really tough and took lots of hard work, attention to detail, and caring along the way.

What advice would you give your younger self just starting out on their own

Relax. Dont be so eager to please. Trust and believe in yourself.
