Sunrise on the Square Road Race returns Sept. 3

The Sunrise on the Square Labor Day Road Race is a local favorite and has been held annually in Downtown Newnan on the Saturday before Labor Day for over 45 years!

The race will return to the streets of Newnan on September 3, 2022 at 8 a.m. Registration for this year’s event is now open. The race begins in downtown Newnan and spans through “The City of Homes,” where runners will catch a glimpse of our beautiful, historic in-town neighborhoods and commercial district.

The race features a 5k USATF certified course (chipped timing), where runners will enjoy the diversity of terrain, including: long flat stretches, downhill, and uphill sections. The Sunrise on the Square Labor Day Road race welcomes both runners and walkers of all skill levels.

Awards for overall Male/Female finishers ; Overall M/F Masters ; Top three Male/Female in age groups 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & over. The 5K is USATF Certified (USATF 5K GA19040WC) and CHIPPED TIMED. Times can be used for seeding in Peachtree 10K but runner will have to submit information.

• 6:30 am … On-site registration and check-in for registered runners and walkers*
• 7:30 am … Check-in & on-site registration ends
• 8 am … 5K

This race will benefit the Newnan/Coweta Boys & Girls Club. The Newnan/Coweta Boys & Girls Club works with hundreds of kids and teens each year to help them reach their full potential. They provide an environment where all youth feel safe and secure to dream, discover, and develop. Their programs focus on helping kids succeed in school, live healthy, and become leaders.

Cost is $30 per participant (short sleeve t-shirt) or $35 per (long sleeve t-shirt) when registering prior to Aug. 12. Late registration begins Aug. 13 and is $35 (short sleeve) and $40 (long sleeve). Race late registration and early run packet pick-up for registered runners and walkers will take place on both Thursday, September 1 and Friday, September 2 from 1 to 6 p.m. at Dragonfly Running Company, located at 10 Lagrange Street in downtown Newnan.
