The Joint: The Cozy Bistro

By JOHN WINTERS, Publisher
Everyone has their “go-to” place to eat. It might be with linen tablecloths and waiters in ties, or where you throw peanuts on the floor and carve your initials in the wooden tables. Whatever and wherever, it’s your “joint.”
This month’s featured joint is …
The Cozy Bistro
I decided to take the Middle SON of Thunder on our latest foray into the culinary delights of Coweta County. Seth, as he is also called, is the one who will try something different. His brothers question his choices sometimes, but Seth has a knack for finding something unusual.
So The Cozy Bistro was a perfect place. It’s a new Vietnamese restaurant on Bullsboro Drive. And of course it has Pho, the ultimate Vietnamese meat and rice noodle soup. It was Anthony Bourdain’s favorite dish.
Youngest SON of Thunder, the culinary expert of the family, said Pho is pronounced “fuh” and not “foh.” Whatever … let’s get on to the food.
First, get the crispy egg rolls. As in do not pass “Go,” do not collect $200. Just order them with their signature sauce. Lord help us. Seth got the “foh” or “fuh” or whatever. I snuck a bite of a meatball in the soup and that was delicious. Seth gave the broth high marks.
For me, it was the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken Rice Plate that had that little red chili pepper next to the description in the menu. That signifies a “hot” or “spicy” dish as most know. And I know that symbol in an Asian restaurant means exactlly what it implies. It was one of those dishes where you sweat on the top of your head. And those are the best spicy dishes.
Next time its the Crispy Chicken Rice Plate or the Chicken Curry for me. The owners are wonderful and always suggesting something new. As their motto states, “Cozy Up To Vietnamese Flavor!”
