September, after Labor Day in Coweta County, means high school football games, eleven days of county fair fun and much more. Below are just a few events, but check upcoming issues of The Weekly and our Facebook’s (@wintersmediapublishing) events page for information on these and more.
Sept. 9, Friday
• There’s Jazz in the Park and high school football. Newnan Cultural Arts Commission hosts Jazz in the Park with Bumpin’ the Mango at 7:30 pm in Greenville Street Park. Check their Facebook page for more information.
• Coweta County high school games include Central Christian at Fideles Christian, Sandy Creek at East Coweta, and Griffin at Northgate. Go teams!
Sept. 10, Saturday
• Keep Newnan Beautiful is hosting a Paper Shredding event from 8 am to noon behind Newnan City Hall. First 3 bags or boxes are free for Coweta County residents. After that $3per bag or box. Call or email with any questions, 678-673-5505, [email protected].
• Senoia Farmers Market is every Saturday from 8:30am to 1pm at 40 Travis St.
• Pathways Center and AnotherWay Foundation, Inc. will host a No One Walks Alone – Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk to honor loved ones that have lost their lives to suicide and to raise funds to support individuals seeking mental health treatment. This is not your traditional walk! Coping Skill Stations such as yoga, art therapy, pet therapy, sensory booths and more will be stationed along the LINC trail for all attendees to participate in free of charge! 9 to 11:30 am at 1515 Lower Fayetteville Rd. • Newnan’s Abide Brewing Co. hosts Rockin’ Newnan Bash at Abide. Doors open at noon, music starts at 1pm. Go out and support some of your favorite local musicians including Kris Youmans Band, Daniel Toole, Mary Claire Martin and many, many more. 110 Werz Industrial Blvd, Newnan.

Please join Newnan Police Department and others at 8:35 am on the west side of the courthouse for a 9.11 Ceremony as the community honors and remembers those who sacrificed everything.
Sept. 13, Tuesday
• The Coweta Association of Retired Teachers (CARE) meet at 11:30am at Royal Baptist Church. Call 678-953-4003 for more information.
• The Backyard Association will host their monthly meeting at 7:30pm with Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Tim Marchlik who will discuss How New Plants Show Up at Your Nursery. Small Town Throwdown Concert is at Ashley Park. Shaquille O’Neal will be the host and will feature Brantley Gilbert, LOCASH & Gyth Rigdon, & Dee Jay Silver. Gates will open at 5:30 pm at Ashley Park. The Expo will be a one-stop shop for everything you need to know about how to prepare for the best life you can live. Experts in the senior living/aging arena will be present to meet with you, share information and answer you questions.
