Weekly Report: Coweta County sees declines in all categories

COWETA COUNTY
Coweta County recorded declines in the three major COVID-19 categories for the week of 9-15. It’s the first time since the week of November 3-9, 2022, the county saw a drop in numbers in each listing.
Coweta confirmed 93 new COVID-19 cases in the past week for an average of 13.3 per day. That number is down by 20 from the previous week’s totals.
In addition, Coweta posted 0 COVID-19 related deaths (down 1) and 9 hospitalizations (down 7).
For the month of February, Coweta has had 220 new cases (14.7 per day) with 2 deaths and 25 hospitalizations.
Per the Georgia Department of Public Health, 201,566 vaccines have been applied to Coweta residents thru Feb. 15 with 195 last week. The Coweta and Georgia vaccination rates follow – Coweta is at 56 percent with one dose (Georgia is at 67 percent), 52 percent fully vaccinated (Georgia is at 59 percent), 47 percent have been fully vaccinated and had a booster shot (Georgia 46 percent), and 24 percent have had an additional dose (Georgia 27 percent).
The overall positive test rate in Coweta is 13.8 percent this week, with the two-week infection rate rising to 17.1 percent (from 16.6 last week).
Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 27,754 cases, 458 deaths (with an additional 68 probable deaths) and 2,148 hospitalizations through Feb. 15 from when the pandemic began some 34-plus months ago. Coweta ranks 19th in Georgia (out of 159 counties) in cumulative cases, 14th in deaths due to COVID and 16th in COVID-related hospitalizations.

GEORGIA
Georgia had declines in three of the four major COVID-19 categories for the week of February 9-15.
Georgia confirmed 4,480 cases for an average of 640.0 per day last week, falling by 728 cases from the previous week.
Other categories to have declines included deaths with 57 (down 11) and ICU admits of 27 (down 5).
Hospitalizations did have a slight increase with 487 this week, up 6 from a week ago. It’s the first increase for hospitalizations since the week of Jan. 5-11 last month.
The overall positive test rate in Georgia this week remains at 12.5 percent, with the two-week infection rate falling to 11.6 percent (11.9 percent last week).
Overall, Georgia has confirmed cumulative totals of 2,341,378 cases, 34,935 deaths, 137,541 hospitalizations and 17,584 ICU admits through Feb. 15 from when the pandemic began in March 2020.
