Everyone has their “go-to” place to eat. It might be with linen tablecloths and waiters in ties, or where you throw peanuts on the floor and carve your initials in the wooden tables. Whatever and wherever, it’s your “joint.”

This month’s featured joint is …

Del Porto

Imagine going to a restaurant that specializes in not one, but two of your favorite styles of food.

What would be your combo?

For me, I’d go with Italian and Cajun/Creole. I know, a weird match but those are two food groups I love. Now, if there was only a place that …

Well, Newnan has that exact restaurant and it’s called Del Porto. For you linguists out there, that roughly translate to “of the port” or “from the port.” And for a little background, it’s where the old Joe’s Bar and Grill used to be. Same owners. Just completely different.

I’ve spent 40 years in the newspaper business, so I’m fairly handy with words. But kudos to the webmaster/wordsmith because I’m just going to let them tell you their story:

“We are a family-owned Italian Creole restaurant located in Newnan, GA. Our talented chefs prepare fresh signature dishes daily, including Cioppino seafood stew, veal or chicken piccata, shrimp or chicken alfredo, and more.

“At Del Porto’s we expertly combine traditional Italian recipes with bold creole flavors to create an exceptional dining experience. From juicy Delmonico ribeye steaks to tender lamb chops with mint sauce – there’s something for everyone on our menu. Don’t miss out on trying our chef’s compilation of Louisiana favorites like fried seafood platter or fish almandine/crawfish Atchafalaya or Gumbo!”

I think that covers the basics.
