Everyone has their “go-to” place to eat. It might be with linen tablecloths and waiters in ties, or where you throw peanuts on the floor and carve your initials in the wooden tables. Whatever and wherever, it’s your “joint.”

This month’s featured joint is …

JaPaneck Frank

We have had the pleasure of following “Frank” through many transitions. He was a chef at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse, then got into the food truck business (which he still does). Next, it was opening a space at The Mess Hall inside Senoia Coffee.

Each time it seemed the food and offerings just got better and better.

And now JaPaneck Frank has his own place, so let’s call it JaPaneck Frank 4.0. Think of it as a mix of Japanese, Filipino and some fried Southern specials and you got it. Hibachi, Bento boxes, sushi, special appetizers and … Hibachi Burritos.

Regarding those burritos, Chef Frank says you choose your protein(s) – shrimp, chicken, steak and/or veggies. He cooks that up with fried rice, some teriyaki sauce and garlic butter and rolls it in a tortilla or spinach wrap.

For some appetizer recommendations, you cannot beat his Goyza, a special Japanese style dumpling, or his Lupia, a Filipino deep fried egg roll with sweet chili sauce.

The sushi is awesome, and if you want some Southern fried something, you want the JuJu roll. That would be spicy tuna, salmon, and avocado, which is then deep-fried and drizzled with eel sauce and spicy mayo.

Oh, and desserts?  Yes please. Try the Tropical Roll – vanilla ice cream wrap with bread topping and kiwi, mango and strawberry, whipped cream and chocolate syrup. We are already hungry just typing that

Frank is a great chef, takes care of his customers and you will come back time and time again.
