Below are some of the events in-and-around Coweta County this weekend (Friday-Sunday, Oct. 3-5).

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3

HOMESCHOOL: LEAF ID AND FALL COLOR HIKE

Come enjoy some autumn fun in this outdoor class! Let’s go on a hike to identify those beautiful yellow, orange and red leaves! We will be doing some leaf impressions and learning how to tell trees apart just by looking at their leaves. It’s like a nature detective game! $5 parking, $3 a child. HALLOWEEN TODDLER STORYTIME
10-11 am, Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan • 770-683-1347
Join the folks at Newnan Carnegie Library for story time! They will celebrate Halloween through books, songs, and body movement. Activities will be followed by a themed craft or open play. This program is recommended for children ages 1-3, but siblings are welcome. No registration required.

OKTOBERFEST
5-10 pm, Downtown Newnan
The popular Oktoberfest Beer Tasting event returns to downtown Newnan. Tickets are now on sale at mainstreetnewnan.com. The tickets are $30 per person and only 500 tickets will be available to the general public. The Oktoberfest celebration is designed to bring beer enthusiasts downtown to enjoy a night of tasting Georgia craft brews as over 30+ downtown business participate. This year, Main Street Newnan is partnering with Line Creek Brewing The Reserve for a special after-party from 8-10 pm. Ticket holders will receive two complimentary beers at The Reserve.

FIRST FRIDAY ON THE COURTHOUSE SQUARE
5 pm, Downtown Newnan Courthouse Square
Hosted by Newnan Leisure Services. They are supporting Main Street Newnan’s Oktoberfest with moving First Friday in October to the Courthouse Square! Join them for a free, fun-filled evening activities and community vibes while you walk around downtown for the Oktoberfest event!

SENOIA’S FALL BOUTIQUE CRAWL
5-8 pm, Downtown Senoia
Join everyone for an evening of Fall Fashion, Local Shopping and Fun! Stroll through your favorite boutiques and specialty shops in charming Downtown Senoia. Enjoy exclusive event perks, sips PLUS – enter to win the Grand Giveaway! Pick up a Crawl Card at any participating location.

PEACHTREE CITY NIGHT MARKET
5 pm, Drake Field, 155 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City
Night Market is a free, family-friendly event series in Peachtree City, GA, featuring live music (Threadbare Skivvies, Old Soulz Band), local food trucks, craft beverages, and artisan vendors in a vibrant outdoor setting. Hosted by Virtuoso Music & Art, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting musical arts for children, Night Market is more than just a night out—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and local entrepreneurship.

NITWITS: SPOOKY SEASON IMPROV PERFORMANCES

Jeepers Creepers! Bring your peepers to see a delightfully haunting show that will bring your fears to a hysterical life or a haunting conclusion. Come dressed in your spookiest costume. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4

PAINT RECYCLING EVENT
8 am-Noon, Newnan City Hall Parking Lot, 25 LaGrange Street, Newnan • 678-673-5505
Keep Newnan Beautiful will host its second Paint Recycling Events in 2025 on Saturday. Fees will apply for the various types of paint. Paint Recycling is for wet paint only. Costs are $2 each for spray paint cans, $4 per gallon of latex paint, $5 per gallon of oil paint and $4 per gallon of deck/wood stain. No solvents, paint thinner/remover, epoxy, adhesives, laquers, gasoline, mercury or lead paint will be accepted. Fee discounts are available for City of Newnan residents. Limits may apply in some categories.

WALK FOR HOPE 2025
8 am, City of Hope, 600 Celebrate Life Parkway, Newnan
Since its inception in 1997, Walk for Hope has raised nearly $50 million, fueling our mission and making hope happen for all touched by cancer. The walk brings an entire community together for one common cause – to end cancer for all. Bring a light jacket, comfy shoes and a sign to cheer on your crew. Locally-sourced Farmer’s Market, every Saturday. Fresh produce, baked goods, local artisans and much more.

THE HISTORIC COTTON FAIR
9 am-5 pm, 18830 Highway 85, Gay
The 100th edition of The Historic Cotton Fair is set for this weekend in Gay, GA. The Cotton Fair is 2-day arts, crafts, and antiques show. Over 300 artisans from all over the country will gather on our grounds. They have wonderful items in store for you and can’t wait for you to take them home! Do not bring pets for the safety comfort of all our guests. Service animals ONLY. Parking is free and on a first come, first parked basis. Come early on Saturday to help avoid the traffic. Tickets are $15 for general admission (ages 11-64); $10 for seniors (65+) and active duty military; and children 10-and-under are free.

PEACHTREE CITY MARKET
9 am-1 pm, Aberdeen Village Shopping Center, Aberdeen Parkway, Peachtree City
Approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats and more. Also live music.

SERENBE FARMERS AND ARTISTS MARKET
9 am-1 pm, 10640 Serenbe Lane, Chattahoochee Hills
This weekly market partners with quality vendors including growers, artisans, craftmakers and healthy food producers. The market is filled with fresh produce, delicious foods, fine arts and crafts.

NEWNAN MARKET DAY
10 am-2 pm, Courthouse Square, Downtown Newnan
It’s the monthly Market Day in downtown Newnan. The event is hosted by Main Street Newnan on the first Saturday of every month. The Market features over 55 unique spaces, with a variety of one-of-a-kind gift items. Market Day favorites include: fresh locally grown produce, honey, jams & jellies, pottery, art, hand-woven baskets, leather products, etc.

FALL FOLIAGE PHOTOGRAPHY HIKE

Bring your cameras and enjoy a ranger-led hike to capture the beautiful beginnings of fall foliage along the creeks and boulders. Some animals to might encounter include, white tail deer, coyotes, bobcats, cottontails, armadillos, osprey and more! Beginners welcome!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5

FERST ANNUAL LEWIS GRIZZARD & CATFISH MEMORIAL BIKE RIDE
8 am, Old Moreland Mill, 7 Main Street, Moreland
The Ferst Annual Lewis Grizzard and Catfish Bike Ride honors author Lewis Grizzard who was from Moreland, Georgia.  Proceeds from the ride help to send age-appropriate books free of charge to children from birth to age five years old. Registration begins at 6:30 am with ride start at 8 am. Lunch is provided at the end of the ride. To register, click HERE.

The Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation welcomes Kristina McMorris to Newnan to discuss her new book, The Girls of Good Fortune.  A captivating tale of resilience and hope, this book explores the complexity of family and identity, the importance of stories that echo through generations, and the power of strength found beneath the surface. Books will be available for purchase by Bookmiser.  The book talk will be followed by a book signing. This author event is part of the Edgar B. Hollis Distinguished Author Series.
