Sunday: Coweta pushes past 1,500-case mark

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Sunday, Aug. 9

Today, Coweta County confirmed 18 new cases of COVID-19 including 1 hospitalization. The 18 cases pushes Coweta’s cumulative total to 1503. This is the 20th consecutive day Coweta has had double-digit new cases. In those 20 days (since July 21), Coweta has registered 484 cases (avg. 24.2 per day), 6 deaths and 28 hospitalizations.

Other cumulative totals to date for Coweta include 22 deaths and 99 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Statewide, Georgia had its typical lower Sunday numbers with 3,169 cases, just under 1300 less than Saturday. There were also 13 deaths, 72 hospitalizations and 13 ICU admits. It was 34th consecutive day the state has recorded 2,000-or-more COVID-19 cases in a single day.

Presently, there are 2,865 people in Georgia hospitalized with COVID-19.

Regarding hospitalizations … Among Critical Care Beds in Georgia, 85 percent are in use (15 percent available). Among General Inpatient Beds in Georgia, 78 percent are in use (22 percent available). Among Total Emergency Rooms in Georgia, 56 percent are in use (44 percent available). The total of Adult Ventilators in Georgia is 2,871. Presently, 1,202 (42 percent) are in use and 1,669 (58 percent) are available.

Overall, Georgia now stands at 216,596 cumulative cases, 4199 deaths, 20,628 hospitalizations and 3752 ICU admits.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
