Nominations Open for 2026 Coweta County Citizen of the Year

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 Coweta County Citizen of the Year award.
This annual honor recognizes an individual who has shown outstanding leadership, citizenship, and a sustained commitment to improving the community.
“This award has a long-standing history of honoring individuals who embody the values of selfless service and civic leadership,” said Nancy Walden, Chair of the event committee. “We encourage everyone to think about the people in their lives who go above and beyond and submit a nomination.”
The public is encouraged to nominate a deserving individual by completing the nomination form which can be found on the Newnan-Coweta Chamber website, or by clicking HERE. Nominations will be accepted through Wednesday November 12, 2025.
The 2026 Citizen of the Year announcement event will be held on January 29, 2026, at the Newnan Centre, 1515 Lower Fayetteville Rd, Newnan, GA 30265, with doors opening at 6 p.m. The Kiwanis Clubs of Coweta County sponsor both the award and annual banquet.
The nominee should live in Coweta County, and his/her civic and volunteer activities must be centered in Coweta County and the surrounding area. Consideration will be given to those who demonstrate leadership and performance in multiple areas of community service over a period of years. The nominee may be an individual from any walk of life, and there are no requirements or restrictions relating to gender, age, race, religion, or ethnic background.
Individuals may not nominate themselves, and family members may not nominate another family member. Individuals must be nominated on the basis of their volunteer and community impact, not on the result of their paid work. When memberships and organizations are part of the nomination, specific accomplishments must be included.
The nomination form should include both the nominee’s name and contact information, as well as the nominator’s name and contact information. The nominator must provide a cover page and answer the four listed questions to describe the nominee’s contributions to the community and obtain two letters of recommendation. A one-page biography of the nominee must also be included.
