Weekend Weather: Heat returns as Coweta begins to dry out

After rain dominated the forecast for much of the past week, now it’s time for high temperatures of the summer season to return.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says to look for highs over the weekend to be 92 degrees today, then 90 on both Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances are listed at only 30 percent today and Saturday, just 20 percent on Sunday as the typical summer pattern with a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm returns.

Patchy fog is expected both today and Saturday early as well as smoke from some of the wild fires out in the Western United States is expected to linger in the atmosphere here in Georgia.

Overnight lows will be near 70 degrees.

FRIDAY – A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

FRIDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8pm. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Calm wind.

SATURDAY – A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 97. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

SATURDAY NIGHT – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

SUNDAY – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

SUNDAY NIGHT – Partly cloudy, with a low around 71.

MONDAY – A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
