The City of Newnan today announced it will host the annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 12 at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Newnan. The theme this year is “Candy Cane Lane” and includes the following award categories:

• Grand Champion (best float)
• Candy Cane Lane Award (best use of theme)
• Rudolph’s Choice Award (fun entry that stands out in a special way)
• Santa’s Little Helper Award (for an outstanding group of young Christmas helpers, capturing the magic
of Christmas)
• Christmas Crowd Favorite (winner of social media survey)

This year the City of Newnan will also present the “Spirit of Newnan” award to the home on the updated parade route which best represents community, hometown pride, and the Christmas spirit. Mayor Shepherd shared, “Christmas is the season when all of Newnan comes together. We’re a city that keeps its traditions, and the parade is one of our best. There’s nothing quite like a cold December night downtown, the sidewalks full, kids waving at every float that goes by. I’m looking forward to getting into the Christmas spirit with everybody, and I hope every church, school, team, and business that’s ever thought about entering signs up this year.”

The Christmas Parade Committee is being led by Stephanie Beck, City Hall Administrative Specialist, and Andrew Moody, Special Projects Manager. All applications to participate in the parade must be received by 5:00 p.m. on December 4.
