Week No. 4 in the 2023 high school football season takes place on Friday as undefeated East Coweta (3-0) hosts traditional power Sandy Creek in the area’s Game of the Week.

Other local games include Hardaway at Newnan (0-2), Northgate (2-1) visiting Griffin, Mt. Zion at Heritage School (0-2) and Hearts Academy at Central Christian (1-1). Trinity Christian (1-2) is open.

The second week of the college football season is this weekend. Locally, Georgia hosts Ball State and South Carolina State is at Georgia Tech.

On the pro sports scene, the Atlanta Braves continue to post Major League Baseball’s best record at 90-46 after an 8-2 West Coast trip. The Braves are in town for 6 games – three each with St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

United returns to the pitch on Sept. 16, hosting Lionel Messi and Inter Miami and the Dream, now 17-20, finishes its regular season on Sunday with three games this week.

And last but not least, the Atlanta Falcons kick off the 2023 NFL regular season on Sunday entertaining the Carolina Panthers at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
