Wednesday: Coweta adds 59 new cases, 1 death, 1 hospitalization

The Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, Dec. 16. Technical issues with the GPH website have created a delay on information regarding Cases by Age, Occupancy of ICU and In-Patient Beds and Ventilators in use.
COWETA COUNTY CASES
On Wednesday, Coweta County confirmed 59 new cases of COVID-19 with 1 death and 1 hospitalization. It’s the 8th straight day Coweta has been above 30 cases (longest stretch since pandemic began) and the 33rd consecutive day in double-digit cases.
For the month of December, the county has posted 649 cases for an average of 40.6 per day with 5 deaths and 16 hospitalizations. The 649 cases is the 2nd-highest monthly total, trailing only August with 953 cases. The 40.6 daily rate is ahead of the high mark for a month which was 30.7, also in August.
To date, Coweta has confirmed cumulative totals of 4302 cases, 73 deaths (with an additional 5 probable deaths attributed to COVID) and 193 hospitalizations. Coweta is 25th among all Georgia counties in cases and 33rd in most deaths.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Coweta is 8.5 percent, and in the last two weeks, is rising at 13.0 percent.
GEORGIA CASES
Georgia confirmed 4186 cases on Wednesday, which is the 18th time during the pandemic above 4000 cases in a day. Other Wednesday numbers included 52 deaths, 307 hospitalizations and 40 ICU admits. It’s the 25th time Georgia has been above 300 hospitalizations in a single day.
Overall, Georgia has recorded cumulative totals of 488,338 cases, 9302 deaths, 38,418 hospitalizations and 6936 ICU admits.
The overall positive test rate of all persons tested in Georgia is 9.5 percent, and in the last two weeks, it stands at 12.9 percent.
Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (6062 on Dec. 10); deaths (122 on Aug. 11); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (97 on Aug. 12).
