Below are fun, educational and family-friendly events in Coweta County this week – April 25 through April 30.
April 25, TUESDAY
Running Injury Prevention Workshop
7 p.m. at ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates Studio, 1777 Georgia Park, Peachtree City.
Jessalyn Ford, PT DPT NCPT, a lifelong runner, will facilitate a Running Injury Preventive Workshop. Class size for the workshop is limited. There is a $50 admission fee but attendance is free with the purchase of a Pilates package. Sign up at 770-487-1931 or drop by the studio to register. Participants will have an opportunity to have their running form reviewed.
April 26, WEDNESDAY
Coweta County Special Olympics
9 a.m.- 7 p.m. at East Coweta High School, 400 Sharpsburg-McCollum Road, Sharpsburg.
The annual spring games track meet features over 400 athletes and 500 volunteers. This is a great event for our athletes and the community every year. Athletes will compete in track and field events such as 100 meter dash, long jump, and shot put. Questions: [email protected].
Pizza in the Park
3:30-4:30 p.m. at C.J. Smith Park, 92 Farmer Street, Newnan.
The city of Newnan, in recognition of Georgia Cities Week, will be hosting this free event. Stop by, enjoy a slice of pizza and have a conversation or ask questions with an employee of the city of Newnan.
April 27, THURSDAY
Suicide Awareness 5K Run at ECHS
8 a.m. at East Coweta Hight School, 400 Sharpsburg-McCollum Road, Sharpsburg.

Legends of the League NJSL Charity Golf Tournament

The Fore Our Community Charity Golf Classic

Carnegie Cinema: Murder in Coweta County
6:30-9 p.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library, 1 LaGrange Street, Newnan
The city of Newnan, in recognition of Georgia Cities Week, is hosting a movie screening of “Murder in Coweta County,” one of Coweta County’s favorite movies, starring the likes of Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash. Candy, popcorn, and water will be provided. The film is not rated but contains frightening and intense scenes, alcohol and smoking, violence, profanity, and nudity. Space is limited, so register on EVENTBRITE before arrival.
April 29, SATURDAY
Coweta County Youth Fishing Rodeo
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Welcome Farms, 334 Welcome to Sargent Road, Newnan.
Youth Only (Pre-K through 5th Grade). Participants must be able to hold a fishing pole. Adult supervision is required and adults may assist in baiting hook and casting. Bring your own fishing equipment and bait (no minnows or shiners). Suggested baits are chicken livers, hot dogs, blood baits, cheese or dough balls. Pond is stocked with catfish for the rodeo. You must keep what you catch. Weigh-in at Noon and winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m. Categories include Total pounds, heaviest fish, longest fish. Concessions and restrooms available on premises. No license required, 10 fish limit, 3 pole limit per person. Sponsored by the Coweta County Extension 4-H, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Welcome Farms, and Newnan-Coweta Jaycees.

The Heritage School Grove Market
10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 2093 Highway 29 North, Newnan.
The Grove Market will feature 36 student-run booths that will be selling baked goods, jewelry, handmade crafts, and more. Cash only event.
Community Wellness Day

Christian City’s Community Champion Awards
