Coweta County now accepting ARPA applications from nonprofit organizations

The Coweta County Board of Commissioners recently approved the distribution of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to eligible nonprofit organizations. The nonprofits will be selected through a competitive grant application process.
Under the County’s application guidelines, nonprofit organizations must submit applications describing intended use of the funds, the beneficiaries of the program, how the program will be implemented, whether they will contribute matching funds, and why their organization is positioned to support the goals of the ARPA.
To qualify, subrecipients must be a U.S. 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) organization in operation prior to January 1, 2020. They must have a local presence in Coweta County and a proven track record for making positive impacts in the community. In addition, applicants must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) and maintain active registration through the performance period.
All completed applications must be submitted by June 7, 2022. A panel will evaluate and score each application. The County will make selections by September 9, 2022 and notify all grant recipients for an award no later than September 30, 2022. The grant recipient will have thirty (30) days to accept or decline the award. Funds must then be obligated by December 31, 2024 and dispersed by December 31, 2026. The minimum amount of an award is $25,000.
The purpose of the grant is to fund programs that provide needed eligible services as defined in the Final Rule to eligible populations. The program must:
- Support equitable economic recovery from the public health emergency for Coweta County residents and/or businesses;
- Address systemic public health and economic challenges that may have contributed to more severe impacts of the pandemic among low-income communities and people of color.
