Coweta Schools announce three new Principals, Assistant Principals for 2024-25

The Coweta County Board of Education has approved several new principals for the 2024-25 school year, following recent retirement announcements and administrative appointments made in February.
- Lewis Brown has been named as the new principal of Welch Elementary School, to replace current principal Janice Smith. Smith has been named as the school system’s new Student Services Coordinator. Brown is currently an assistant principal at Welch Elementary.
- Dwight McDaniel has been named as the new principal of Maggie Brown Middle School, to replace the current principal Ahmand Tinker. Tinker has been named as the school system’s new Director of Student Services. McDaniel is currently the assistant principal at Ruth Hill Elementary School.
- Randy Robbins has been named as the new principal of Willis Road Elementary School, to replace the current principal Jennifer Whetstone. Whetstone announced her retirement earlier this year. Robbins is currently an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Newnan High School.
The board also approved several new assistant principal positions, to fill vacancies in the new school year. Jeff Welch will become an AP at Arnall Middle School. Kristin Harris and Randy Coleman will become APs at East Coweta High School. And Dana DeGennaro will become an AP at Western Elementary School.
Current Assistant Principals Waikiki Upshaw of Willis Road Elementary and Priscilla Lee of East Coweta Middle School were also approved to join the Department of Student Services as Student Support Liaisons.
The Board of Education took action on the new positions at their March 12 regular meeting. Most new positions approved by the school board will take place in the new school year, during the summer of 2024.
These administrative decisions follow new appointments made by the Board in February, including Tinker and Smith’s new positions, Chad Kollert named as the new principal of East Coweta Middle School, and Stefanie Easterwood named as the new principal of Arnall Middle School.
