Wednesday: Coweta adds 25 cases, 1 death, 1 hospitalization

The 3 p.m. Daily Status Report of the COVID-19 pandemic has been issued by the Georgia Department of Public Health for Wednesday, July 29.

Today, Coweta County posted 25 new cases of COVID-19 with 1 death and 1 hospitalization. The death was of a 59-year-old white male with no underlying conditions.

It’s the 10th time in the last 13 days Coweta has had 20-or-more cases in a single day. During those 13 days, Coweta has recorded 320 cases, 2 deaths and 16 hospitalizations.

Cumulative totals for Coweta now stand at 1258 cases, 18 deaths and 85 hospitalizations.

So far in July, Coweta has registered 591 cases of COVID-19, more than doubling June’s total cases of 250. Coweta has had 3 deaths in July and 25 hospitalizations.

Single-day highs for Coweta since the pandemic began in March follow: cases (48 on July 23); deaths (3 on May 21); and hospitalizations (6 on May 12).

Georgia saw a dip in new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with 3,271 (about a thousand less than Tuesday), but increases in deaths (79), hospitalizations (420) and ICU admits (65). It was the 38th consecutive day Georgia had over 1,000 new cases and was the 19th time since July 1st the statewide daily count has been over 3,000.

Regarding hospitalizations … today’s confirmed number of COVID-19 hospitalizations is 3,188. Among Critical Care Beds in Georgia, 87 percent are in use (13 percent available). Among General Inpatient Beds in Georgia, 82 percent are in use (18 percent available).  Among Total Emergency Rooms in Georgia, 53 percent are in use (47 percent available). The total of Adult Ventilators in Georgia is 2,,851. Presently, 1,215 (43 percent) are in use and 1,636 (57 percent) are available.

Overall, Georgia has 178,323 cumulative cases, 3642 deaths, 17,964 hospitalizations and 3301 ICU admits.

In July, COVID-19 positive cases in Georgia now total 97,032, almost tripling June’s total of 34,228. There have been 837 deaths, 6913 hospitalized and 978 ICU admits in July.

Georgia’s single-day highs follow: cases (4,813 on July 24); deaths (94 on April 20); hospitalizations (506 on April 7); ICU admits (85 on July 24).
