Dog Obedience Classes for Beginners start March 20

Instructor Vicky Jones will offer a 9-weeks course of Dog Obedience Classes for beginners this month.

The classes will be nine consecutive Wednesdays beginning on March 20 from 7-9 p.m. It will be for dogs from the age of five months and up and is sponsored by the Coweta County Recreational Department. The classes will be taught at the Recreation Department located at 39 Hospital Road in Newnan.

Jones brings over 49 years of teaching experience with all breeds.  She specializes in dogs with behavior and temperament problems.

The classes will offer exercise in:

• Heeling on a leash with automatic sits
• Figure 8 heeling exercise
• Stand for examination
• Heeling off leash with automatic sits
• Coming on command – on and off leash
• Sit and down stays – on and off leash
• Behavior modification and socialization

Children are welcome to participate in the training, provided they are physically able to handle their dogs and understand and retain lengthy instruction.

Cost of the classes is $150 per dog.
