Each month we cover some of the hot trends from health and wellness, fashion and style, business or even tapping into your creative side.

New and old homes find common ground
There is a wonderful little road in downtown Newnan named Elm Street, where some exciting things are happening.  Two new homes in this beautiful old established Newnan neighborhood have popped up that continue to maintain the charm of our lovely community.

These homes may be brand new but each maintains the integrity of our old southern charm and history of the south.  This popular trend started in metropolitan cities such as Dallas and Atlanta and were coined as McMansions.

Well, this trend has found its way to Coweta County. The difference is that these come in all shapes and sizes.

A Gift that Keeps on Giving
Last year  I suggested that giving an Abby’s Angels Bracelet this Valentine’s Day would be a wonderful trend to start. Abby’s Angels bracelets express and celebrate true love and allows Abby’s vibrant spirit to live on and continue a legacy of love. For those not familiar with the background, Abby Bacho died in a car accident while riding with her family when they were hit by another car.  Abby passed away just before Christmas and her family donated her organs with transplants starting on Christmas Day 2012, so that others could live.

The Bachos started a foundation in Abby’s honor and have truly changed this tragedy into a message of hope. This Valentine’s think about giving a gift that continues to impact lives and share the hope of God.  We are honored to help raise community awareness here with The Paper and The Shopper. The bracelets are available at Dragonfly Running Company, Headline Hair and Hair Salon, Family Friend Pet Lodge and other places.

Looking for an Unconventional Date
Are your date nights getting a bit hum drum? Well, may I suggest shaking it up a bit with your spouse this Valentine’s Day by grabbing your guns, spouse and even friends and head over to Atlanta Range and Ordnance.  If you do not own guns, don’t worry. You can rent all types, including AK-47s and Uzis. They also have plenty of ammo (hollow and full metal and yes I know the difference), as well as ear and eye protection. ARO also offers various safety and shooting and training classes.

Furry Friends are getting a helping hand
Taking care of animals in need in our community is certainly a timeless trend and there are so many ways we can all get involved.  We have six rescued pets of our own, that is if you include the snake. I was thrilled the other day while shopping at the local Pet Supermarket in Sharpsburg when I was asked if I wanted to donate a can of cat or dog food to the Newnan-Coweta Humane Society. It was quick and easy and the food goes where it is needed.

This Valentines Day, The Newnan-Coweta Humane Society is starting a new trend which they hope will catch on. A Party for Pet Lovers will be a night filled with fun, celebrating pets and raising critical funding for the animals.  Not everyone knows what to do on Valentines Day and this seems to me to be perfect for singles and married couples alike. We hope you will consider thinking of our furry friends not only this Valentine’s Day but throughout year.
