Gas prices continue to rise locally, nationwide
From AAA Media Services and Staff Reports
ATLANTA — Georgia gas prices continue to increase at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.39 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Thursday’s state average is 6 cents more than a week ago, 27 cents more than last month, and 91 cents more than this time last year.
It now costs motorists approximately $51 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline.
“Elevated oil prices continue to contribute to the rise in gas prices across the country,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “One way Georgians can maximize fuel efficiency is to keep their vehicle well-maintained as pump prices climb.”
Local gas prices here in Coweta County are averaging $3.370 per gallon, per AAA.
According to Gas Buddy, is the lowest at both Costco and Sam’s Club in the 30277 zip code. The cost there is $3.22 per gallon of regular gas. In the 30263 zip code, the lowest is $3.24 per gallon at Metro Petro just south of downtown Newnan (BJ’s Club not reporting). In 30265, the lowest is Metro Petro at Shenandoah Blvd., and Marathon at Hwy. 34 East and I-85, Exit 47. Both Kroger and Race Trac are reporting $3.27 per gallon. In the 30276 Senoia zip code, the lowest price is $3.29 at Circle K at the corner of Wells Street and Hwy. 85.
Most Coweta County stations have regular gas listed in the mid-$3.30 to low-$3.40 range.
Most expensive Georgia metro markets – Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.49), Brunswick ($3.48), and Savannah ($3.47).
Least expensive Georgia metro markets – Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($3.31), Dalton ($3.32), and Warner Robins ($3.33).
Crude Prices Continue To Push National Average Higher
Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by 6 cents to $3.54. At the close of last Thursday’s formal trading session, WTI decreased by $1.90 to settle at $91.76. Tension between Russia and Ukraine, including last night’s invasion, has contributed to rising oil prices. Russia is a member of OPEC+, and any sanctions based on their actions toward Ukraine may cause it to withhold crude oil from the global market. Additionally, EIA reported last week that total domestic crude stocks increased by 1.1 million barrels last week to 411.5 million barrels.
