Newnan Carnegie Crochet Class donates to VFW Post 2667
From Special Reports
A total of 187 hand-crocheted scarves were donated to the Newnan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2667 on Monday, Sept. 20.
The scarves were the result of a weekly crochet class which is held at the Newnan Carnegie Library. The members of the class had been working tirelessly for weeks and donated the results of their hard work to the local post.
Representatives of the VFW – Billy Alford, Larry Chrome, Janet Alford, Jeff Bouchard, Jay Maxwell, Veda Brooks, and Chris Marks – were at the Newnan Carnegie Library to accept the donation.
“One-hundred-thirty scarves were made in class, and fifty-seven scarves were donated to us for the VFW by the kind people at the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point,” said Judy Davenport, the instructor for the Newnan Carnegie Library crochet class.
The Crochet Class participants who helped create the scarves are Judy Davenport, D.J. Shaw, Karen Sorrow, Bliss Harper, Aundrea Bishop, Kathleen Luck, Mary Daniels, Veronica Landreau, Faith Landreau, Elizabeth Dillon, Karen King, Margie Whitworth, Ruby Barber, Marge Cox, Brittnay Knighton, and Levi Knighton.
The crochet class meets Mondays at 1:30 p.m. in the Newnan Carnegie Library and accepts anyone, regardless of crochet experience.
